How to Get to Playa de Vromolithos

Getting to Playa de Vromolithos is part of the adventure of exploring the Greek islands. The island of Leros, although not one of the largest or most internationally known, is well-connected and accessible. Our journey would most likely begin in Athens, from the port of Piraeus, taking a ferry to Leros. Ferries are the most common means of transport and offer us the opportunity to enjoy the journey through the Aegean, with its impressive views of the surrounding islands. The duration of the trip can vary, but it is a genuine experience that gradually immerses us in the island rhythm.

Once in Leros, we will most likely disembark at one of its main ports, such as Agia Marina or Lakki. From there, getting to Vromolithos is relatively simple. The beach is a short distance from Platanos, the island's capital, and from Pandeli, a charming fishing village. We can choose from several transportation options:

• Car or motorbike rental: This is undoubtedly the option that gives us the most freedom to explore not only Vromolithos but also the rest of the island. There are several rental agencies at the ports and in the main villages. The road to the beach is well signposted and the journey is short and picturesque.
• Taxi: For those who prefer comfort, taxis are available at the ports. It is a quick and efficient option, especially if we are traveling with luggage. The cost is reasonable, given the short distance.

It is a pleasant walk, although with some slopes, that allows us to enjoy the Mediterranean landscape and the views of the bay before reaching our final destination. The water temperature is generally very pleasant, especially during the summer months, inviting us to stay in it for hours without feeling cold. The bay, being sheltered, offers exceptional swimming conditions: the waves are minimal or non-existent, creating a surface almost like a mirror. This calm makes the beach extremely safe for swimming, even for the less experienced or for small children. The absence of strong currents and the gentle slope of the entry into the sea are additional advantages we greatly appreciate.
