How to Get to Playa de Sitia

• Getting to Playa de Sitia is surprisingly easy, as it is practically integrated into the town of Sitia. For us, this is a great advantage, as it allows us to enjoy the beach without the need for long journeys.
• ### From Sitia Airport (JSH)

* If we fly directly to Sitia Public Airport, which is small but functional, the beach is just a 5-minute drive or taxi ride away. It's one of the most comfortable arrivals we've experienced. We can take a taxi directly from the terminal or, if we've rented a car, the distance is minimal.

• ### From Other Airports in Crete

* Most international travelers arrive in Crete via Heraklion International Airport (HER) or, to a lesser extent, Chania (CHQ). * From Heraklion: The distance to Sitia is approximately 130 kilometers. We can choose to rent a car, which we highly recommend to explore the region at our own pace. The journey takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes, following the coastal road that offers spectacular views. There are also intercity buses (KTEL) connecting Heraklion with Sitia several times a day. * From Chania: The distance is considerably greater, around 260 kilometers, with a travel time of about 4-5 hours by car. Generally, if our main destination is Sitia, the most practical option is to fly to Heraklion.

* Driving in Crete is a rewarding experience. The main road leading to Sitia from Heraklion is well-maintained and offers impressive sea views. Once in Sitia, the beach is easily accessible. There are parking areas nearby, both free and paid, especially along the seafront promenade. We always prefer to rent a car to have the freedom to explore the surroundings.

* KTEL buses in Crete are reliable and relatively comfortable. There are regular connections from Heraklion and other major towns on the island to Sitia's bus station, which is a short walk from the beach. It's an economical option and allows us to relax while enjoying the scenery.
