How to Get to Playa de Kouremenos

Getting to Playa de Kouremenos is part of the adventure of exploring eastern Crete. Given its somewhat remote, though well-signposted, location, the most practical and recommended option is to rent a car. From the main airports of Heraklion or Chania, the journey is a scenic trip that will allow you to discover the beauty of the Cretan landscape.

From Heraklion or Chania

If you land in Heraklion, the capital, the drive will take approximately two and a half to three hours, depending on traffic and any stops you make to admire the views. From Chania, the journey is considerably longer, around four to five hours. The main route will take you east, following the coastal road that passes through towns like Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. Once you approach Sitia, continue towards Palekastro. From Palekastro, Playa de Kouremenos is just a few kilometers away and you will find clear signs. The road is in good condition, making the trip pleasant and hassle-free.

Parking and Access

One of the advantages of Kouremenos is its ample parking space. You will find several areas of free parking right behind the beach, which greatly facilitates access, even during the busiest months. It is easy to park and walk directly onto the sand, making it a very convenient option for families or for those transporting sports equipment.
