How to Get to Playa de Apokrousi

Getting to Playa de Apokrousi is part of the adventure of exploring the Cyclades. For most travelers, the first step is to fly to Athens and from there take a ferry. Ferries to Kythnos mainly depart from the port of Lavrio, which is closer to Athens airport than Piraeus, although there are also connections from the latter. Once at the port of Merichas, the main gateway to the island, the path to Apokrousi is relatively straightforward.

From Merichas, Playa de Apokrousi is located about 4-5 kilometers to the north. We recommend renting a car or a scooter to have the freedom to explore Kythnos at your own pace. The road leading to the beach is paved and in good condition, facilitating access. There are also local bus services connecting Merichas with Chora (the island's capital) and other beaches, although frequencies may vary depending on the season.
