How to Get to Playa de Filiatro

Accessing Playa de Filiatro is surprisingly simple, which contributes to its popularity. Its proximity to Vathy, the island's capital, makes it very convenient for most visitors to Ithaca.

From Vathy

The most common and comfortable route to reach Filiatro is from Vathy. The distance is approximately 3-4 kilometers. We recommend the following options:

• Car or Motorbike: This is the preferred option for its flexibility. From Vathy, we take the road heading southeast, following the clear signs towards 'Filiatro'. The journey takes about 5-10 minutes on a well-paved road. Upon arrival, we'll find a spacious free Parking area, which makes the visit much easier, even in high season.
• Taxi: If we prefer not to drive, a taxi from Vathy will take us directly to the beach quickly and comfortably, at a reasonable cost.
• On Foot/Bicycle: For the more active, the path is perfectly suitable for cycling, although with some slopes. Walking is possible, but it can be hot in summer and there aren't always sidewalks, so we consider it more of an option for experienced hikers.

From Other Parts of Ithaca

If we are staying in other towns on the island, such as Kioni or Frikes, we simply need to head first towards Vathy and, from there, follow the signs to Filiatro. The roads of Ithaca, although winding, are in good condition and will allow us to enjoy the picturesque landscapes the island offers at every turn.
