How to Get to Playa de Arkoudi

Getting to Playa de Arkoudi is relatively straightforward, although we recommend renting a car for greater flexibility and to explore the charms of the surrounding area. The beach is located on the western coast of the Elis prefecture in the Peloponnese.

From Athens

If you're coming from Athens, the drive takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours (about 280-300 km). You should take the E65/A8 highway towards Patras and then follow the signs to Pyrgos. From Pyrgos, the coastal road will take you directly to Arkoudi. There are also intercity buses (KTEL) from Athens to Pyrgos, and from there you can take a taxi or a local bus to the beach.

From Patras

From Patras, the journey is shorter, around 1.5 to 2 hours (about 100 km). Follow the coastal road south, passing through the Kyllini area, until you reach Arkoudi. This route is particularly scenic, offering spectacular views of the Ionian Sea.

Local Transport

Once in the area, your own or a rented car is the most convenient option. However, during the high season, small local buses usually operate, connecting Arkoudi with nearby villages and the port of Kyllini, from where ferries depart to the Ionian islands of Zakynthos and Kefalonia. Taxis are also available, although they can be more expensive.

The Sand and Water

These are the warmest and busiest months. Air temperatures often exceed 30°C and the water is at its warmest and most pleasant. It's the ideal time if you're looking for a lively atmosphere and don't mind sharing the beach with more people. However, accommodation and flight prices may be higher.

Late Spring (May-June) and Early Autumn (September)

For us, these are the ideal months. The weather is still warm and sunny, but the crowds are significantly smaller. Water temperatures are perfect for swimming and the atmosphere is much more tranquil and relaxed. Prices also tend to be more affordable. September, in particular, offers a perfect combination of good weather and serenity, with the added benefit that the sea has retained the summer's warmth.
