How to Get to Playa de Tigaki

Getting to Playa de Tigaki is relatively straightforward, which adds another point to its appeal. The island of Cos has its own international airport, Cos International Airport 'Hippocrates' (KGS), which receives direct flights from many European cities during the summer season. Once we land, we have several options to reach our beach destination.

From Cos International Airport (KGS)

The airport is about 15-20 kilometres from Playa de Tigaki. The journey usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on traffic and the chosen mode of transport.

• Taxi: This is a comfortable and direct option. Taxis are available right outside the arrivals terminal. The price is reasonable and will drop us right at the door of our accommodation in Tigaki. It's ideal if we are travelling with a lot of luggage or in a group and are looking for efficiency.
• Car rental: We always recommend considering renting a car, especially if we plan to explore the island of Cos in depth. Several car rental companies have offices at the airport. This will give us the freedom to move at our own pace and discover hidden corners beyond the beach. The road to Tigaki is well-signposted and easy to drive, offering charming landscapes along the way.
• Bus: There are bus services from the airport to Cos Town, and from there, another bus to Tigaki. Although it is the most economical option, it can be a bit slower and require a transfer. It is important to check the schedules, especially outside the high season, as the frequency may be lower.

From Cos Town

If we are staying in Cos Town, the island's capital, getting to Tigaki is even easier. The distance is approximately 10-12 kilometres, and the trip takes about 15-20 minutes, making it a perfect day trip from the city.

• Bus: There are regular bus services from the Cos Town bus station to Tigaki. The buses are comfortable and an economical way to travel. Schedules are usually frequent during the day in the high season, making access to this popular Cos beach easy.
• Taxi: Always available in Cos Town, they will take us to Tigaki quickly and without complications, ideal for a transfer without waiting.
• Rental car/motorbike: If we have already rented a vehicle, the journey is short and pleasant, passing through rural landscapes and small villages, adding a picturesque touch to the trip.
• Bicycle: For the more adventurous and exercise-loving, there is a bike path connecting Cos Town with Tigaki. It is a fantastic way to enjoy the landscape and the sea breeze, although it can be a bit long for some, especially in the summer heat. It is a very popular option among cyclists.
