By Car or Motorbike

If you are staying in Kos Town, the capital, the journey by car or motorbike takes approximately 45-50 minutes, covering a distance of about 40 kilometers. The road crossing the island is generally good, with clear signage. Once you approach the Kefalos area, you will see signs for 'Agios Stefanos Beach'. There are several free Parking areas available just above the beach, which facilitates access, although they can fill up quickly during high season. Renting a vehicle gives us the freedom to explore the surroundings at our own pace, something we always value.

By Bus

For those who prefer not to drive, public transport is a viable option. There are regular buses connecting Kos Town with Kefalos. From the bus stop in Kefalos, the beach is a short walk away (approximately 15-20 minutes) or you can take a local taxi. Check the schedules in advance, as frequency may vary depending on the season. This is an economical and stress-free way to reach this beautiful beach of Agios Stefanos.

Taxi

A taxi from Kos Town can be a more comfortable, though more expensive, option. It is ideal if you are traveling in a group and can share the costs. The journey will be direct and hassle-free, leaving you right at the entrance to the beach.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Agios Stefanos offers us a very pleasant combination regarding its surface. Its tipo_arena is 'mixed', meaning you will find a mix of golden sand and fine pebbles. The tipo_suelo is also 'mixed', with sand predominating but with some areas of small stones, especially near the shore and in some parts of the seabed. This gives it a natural character and an interesting texture underfoot. For us, this mix is ideal, as it prevents the sand from sticking excessively while still offering the necessary softness for walking and relaxing.

But if there is something that truly captivates us about this beach Kos, it is the quality of its waters. They are of astonishing clarity, with hues ranging from bright turquoise to deep blue. The entry into the sea is gradual and the waters are usually calm, protected by the bay, making it perfect for swimming and for children. It is a delight to immerse yourself in these refreshing and transparent waters, ideal for seeing the seabed without special equipment. The visibility is excellent, inviting us to explore every underwater corner.

• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: There are ample areas where we can rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds to protect ourselves from the sun and enjoy a day of relaxation. Prices are reasonable and availability is usually good, although in high season it's better to arrive early.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: On the beach and in its immediate surroundings, we find several Chiringuitos and small Restaurantes offering refreshing drinks, snacks, ice cream, and, of course, delicious Greek food. You can enjoy a frappé coffee with sea views or a traditional lunch with fresh fish. For us, the convenience of having dining options nearby is a big plus.
• Lifeguard Service: Safety is paramount, and the presence of Socorrismo during the high season gives us additional peace of mind, especially if traveling with children or if we are not experienced swimmers.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: After a swim in the sea, it's always nice to rinse off. The beach has Duchas for rinsing and also clean, well-maintained Baños/WC, an essential service sometimes missed at other beaches.
• Parking: As mentioned, there are free Parking areas nearby, which facilitates access for those arriving by private vehicle.
