From the moment we set foot on Playa de Arillas, on the charming island of Corfu, Greece, we know we've found something special. It's a destination that invites us to disconnect, to immerse ourselves in the serenity of the Aegean, and to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds it. Located on the northwest coast of the island, Arillas is much more than just a beach; it's a small paradise that combines Greek authenticity with all the comforts we could wish for a perfect holiday.

Here, time seems to slow down. The waters are astonishingly calm, shallow, and crystal clear, making them the ideal setting for children to play safely, while adults relax under the Greek sun. The golden sand stretches for almost two kilometers, offering plenty of space for everyone, even during the busiest months. It's one of those Corfu beaches that leaves a lasting impression, a place we wish to return to again and again.

How to Get to Playa de Arillas

Getting to Playa de Arillas is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it's quite straightforward. The beach is located about 35 kilometers northwest of Corfu Town and Ioannis Kapodistrias International Airport (CFU).

By Rental Car

For us, the most comfortable and flexible option is to rent a car directly at the airport or in Corfu Town. The journey takes approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic. The road is picturesque, winding through olive groves and small villages. Once we approach Arillas, the signage is clear. There is ample free or low-cost parking near the beach, which makes life much easier.

By Bus

If we prefer not to drive, there is a local bus service (KTEL Corfu) connecting Corfu Town with Arillas. Schedules can vary depending on the season, so we recommend checking the KTEL website or asking at the bus station. It's an economical option, although it can be a bit slower and with fewer frequencies, especially outside the high season.

By Taxi or Private Transfer

For a worry-free arrival, we can opt for a taxi or book a private transfer. This is, without a doubt, the fastest and most direct option, ideal if we're traveling with a lot of luggage or with small children. The cost is higher, but the comfort often justifies it.

The Sand and Water

The most distinctive feature of Playa de Arillas is, without a doubt, its sand. It's a fine, golden sand that feels incredibly soft under our feet, perfect for walking barefoot or building sandcastles. This sand gently slopes into the sea, creating a very gradual and shallow entry into the water, making it exceptionally safe for children and for those who don't feel very comfortable swimming in deep water.

The waters of the Ionian Sea at Arillas are astonishingly clear, with shades ranging from pale turquoise to deep blue. They are calm, almost wave-free most of the time, making them a perfect natural pool for swimming, floating, or simply cooling off. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, inviting us to spend hours submerged. The combination of soft sand and serene waters is what makes Arillas one of the most appreciated Greece beaches for relaxation and family fun.

Playa de Arillas is a well-organized beach that offers us everything we need for a perfect day in the sun. We love the convenience of having everything at hand, without feeling that the beach is overcrowded or overly commercialized.

• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: Along the beach, there are several areas where we can rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds for a reasonable price, allowing us to relax without worrying about bringing our own equipment.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: Numerous beach bars and tavernas line the back of the beach, offering everything from refreshing drinks and snacks to full meals with sea views. It's the perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the morning, a light lunch, or a sunset dinner.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: There are clean and well-maintained shower and toilet facilities, which are essential after a dip in the sea.
• Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has lifeguards who watch over our safety, giving us extra peace of mind, especially if we're traveling with children.
• Parking: As mentioned, there are ample parking areas near the beach, facilitating access.
• Equipment Rental: For the more adventurous, there are spots where we can rent equipment for water sports, such as kayaks, paddleboards, or even small boats.
• Blue Flag: The presence of the Blue Flag is a testament to the high water quality, environmental management, and services offered by the beach, something we greatly value.

Choosing the best time to visit Playa de Arillas depends a lot on what we're looking for in our holiday. Each season has its own charm, but some are, without a doubt, more popular than others.

High Season (July and August)

These are the warmest and sunniest months, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C. The sea is at its warmest and the atmosphere is vibrant. However, this is also when the beach and accommodations are most crowded and prices can be higher. If we enjoy the hustle and energy of summer, this is our time.
