Introduction
Welcome to one of the best-kept secrets of the Chalkidiki peninsula! Today we want to tell you about a place that has stolen our hearts: Trani Ammouda Beach. Located in the wonderful Sithonia region, on the second 'finger' of Chalkidiki, this beach is a gem that perfectly combines natural beauty with the comfort of modern services. Also known locally as Livrohio Beach, it is a destination that promises an unforgettable experience for any traveler seeking sun, sea, and tranquility.
From the moment we set foot on its sand, we know we have arrived at a special place. Trani Ammouda Beach stretches majestically, offering ample space for every visitor to find their own corner of peace. Its waters, of an intense turquoise color and astonishing clarity, invite us to dive in and forget the outside world. It's the kind of beach we see on postcards, but here we can experience and feel it firsthand. The combination of fine golden sand with a calm and shallow sea makes it a paradise, especially for those traveling with young children or who simply want to enjoy a relaxing swim without worries. It is, without a doubt, one of the Chalkidiki beaches we cannot miss.
How to Get to Trani Ammouda Beach
Getting to Trani Ammouda Beach is relatively easy, especially if we travel by car, which is the option we always recommend for exploring Chalkidiki at our own pace. The beach is very close to Ormos Panagias, a charming fishing port that serves as a starting point for many boat trips, including those to Mount Athos. From Ormos Panagias, the journey to the beach is just a few minutes by car, following the local signs which are quite well marked.
By Car
If we are coming from Thessaloniki, the main city in northern Greece and where the nearest airport is located, the drive to Trani Ammouda Beach will take approximately an hour and a half. We must take the road heading towards Chalkidiki (Halkidiki) and, once on the Sithonia peninsula, follow the signs to Nikiti and then to Ormos Panagias. The road infrastructure is good, making the journey comfortable and enjoyable, with landscapes that already begin to hint at the beauty of the coast. There is a large free parking lot right behind the beach, which is a great advantage, especially in high season when other Greece beaches may have parking issues.
By Public Transport
Although it is possible to reach Chalkidiki by bus from Thessaloniki, public transport within the peninsula is not as frequent or as comfortable as having your own or a rental car. There are bus lines connecting Thessaloniki with main towns like Nikiti, but from there we would have to find a taxi or walk a considerable distance to the beach. For this reason, to fully enjoy the flexibility and freedom the region offers, our recommendation is always to rent a vehicle. It will allow us to discover not only Trani Ammouda Beach but also other hidden coves and villages of Chalkidiki.
The Sand and Water
Trani Ammouda Beach is, above all, a delight for the senses, and much of its charm lies in its natural characteristics. The sand is of the 'fine' type, with a soft golden tone that shines under the Greek sun. It is incredibly soft to the touch, making it perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply relaxing on a towel. The 'type of ground' on the shore and seabed is predominantly 'sand', which guarantees a smooth entry into the water without unpleasant surprises like sharp rocks or uncomfortable pebbles. This uniformity of the sand contributes to the feeling of cleanliness and comfort that we value so much.
But if the sand is a strong point, the water is, without a doubt, the crown jewel. The waters of Trani Ammouda Beach are famous for their transparency and turquoise hue. They are incredibly clean, which is confirmed year after year with the awarding of the Blue Flag, a distinction that guarantees water quality, environmental management, and safety. The entry into the sea is very gradual, meaning we can go quite far in without the water covering us, an ideal characteristic for children and for those who are not comfortable in deep water. The water temperature is generally very pleasant during the summer months, inviting long swims and enjoyment of water activities. The combination of fine sand and calm, crystal-clear waters makes this Chalkidiki beach an idyllic place for swimming and relaxing.
Services and Facilities
One of the reasons Trani Ammouda Beach is so popular is the excellent range of services and facilities it makes available to its visitors, achieving a perfect balance between natural beauty and comfort. It is not a wild beach, but a well-organized space for everyone's enjoyment.
Among the most valued services, we find:- Sunbeds and umbrellas: Along much of the beach, several beach bars offer the possibility to rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds. This is ideal for those looking to spend the day without worrying about bringing their own beach gear and who want to enjoy a relaxing day in the shade.
- Beach bars (chiringuitos): There are several beach bars (chiringuitos) along the beach, where we can enjoy refreshments, coffees, light snacks, ice creams, and in some cases, more elaborate meals. They are perfect for taking a break from the sun and enjoying the sea views.
- Showers: After a refreshing swim in the sea, it's always nice to be able to rinse off the salt with fresh water. The beach has public showers available for visitors, a very practical and appreciated service.
