How to Get to Playa de Paliouri

Getting to Playa de Paliouri is an exciting part of the adventure, especially if we're coming from Thessaloniki, the main gateway to the Chalkidiki region. We always recommend renting a car to have total freedom and explore at our own pace, as the Kassandra peninsula, where Paliouri is located, is full of hidden treasures worth discovering.

By Car

From Thessaloniki, the journey to Playa de Paliouri is approximately 100-110 kilometers, which translates to a trip of an hour and a half to two hours, depending on traffic and the stops we decide to make. The main route takes us along the Egnatia Odos national highway (A2) heading east, then taking the exit towards Chalkidiki (Halkidiki). We'll follow the signs towards Kassandra, and once on the peninsula, we'll continue south, passing through charming villages like Nea Moudania, Kallithea, and Pefkohori, until we reach the village of Paliouri. From the village, the beach is just a few kilometers away and the signs will guide us without any problem. The road is picturesque, winding through pine forests and offering spectacular views of the Aegean Sea. There are several parking areas near the beach, some free and others paid, especially during high season.

By Bus

For those who prefer not to drive, there is the option of traveling by bus. Intercity KTEL buses connect Thessaloniki with the main villages of Chalkidiki. We can take a bus from the KTEL bus station in Thessaloniki (KTEL Halkidikis) bound for Paliouri. It's important to check the schedules in advance, as the frequency can vary depending on the season. Once in the village of Paliouri, we might need a taxi or a longer walk to reach the beach, as the bus stop is not directly on the sand. This option is more economical but offers less flexibility for getting around the area.
