How to get to Playa de Menduíña

Getting to Playa de Menduíña is relatively straightforward, which adds points to its accessibility and makes it an even more attractive destination. We usually opt for the car, as it offers the most flexibility for exploring the area, but there are also public transport options during the high season.

By car

If we're coming from Cangas, the journey is short and pleasant. We'll take the PO-315 road towards Aldán and, before reaching the center of the parish, we'll see the signs that will guide us to the beach. The signage is quite clear, so we won't have any problems finding it. From Vigo, the route involves crossing the Rande Bridge and following the signs to Cangas. Once near the beach, we'll find a public parking area, not very large but sufficient for the beach's capacity, especially if we arrive early in the morning. This is a plus, as it avoids the frustration of searching for parking in high-traffic areas.

By public transport

During the summer months, there are bus lines connecting Cangas with Aldán and the nearby beaches. Although the frequency isn't as high as in cities, it's an option to consider if we prefer not to drive. We recommend checking the updated schedules of the local transport company (Monbus) to plan the trip. The nearest stop will leave us a short walk from the sand, allowing us to enjoy the landscape as we approach our destination.

The sand and the water

One of the aspects that most impressed us about Playa de Menduíña is, without a doubt, the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters. It's what one expects from a Blue Flag beach, and Menduíña more than meets these expectations.

Type of sand

Among the basic services we find, the showers stand out, perfect for washing off the salt and sand before heading home. It also has bathrooms/WCs, a fundamental service we always value positively to ensure a comfortable stay. The presence of lifeguards during the high season gives us great peace of mind, knowing there are professionals watching over our safety in the water and on the shore. This is a key factor, especially when visiting the beach with children.

Dining options

Although it's not a beach with extensive restaurant infrastructure, Menduíña has at least one chiringuito or beach stall during the summer months. This establishment is ideal for enjoying a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or even a snack without having to go too far from the sand. We love the idea of being able to have something to drink with sea views, without great pretensions, simply enjoying the moment.
