How to Get to Playa de Arealonga

Getting to Playa de Arealonga is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination for almost everyone. We always recommend the car as the most comfortable option, especially if we plan to explore the surroundings. From Vigo or Pontevedra, the AP-9 highway will leave us just a few kilometers from Redondela. Once in the municipality, the signs to the beach are clear, and the journey offers beautiful views of the ría. The Redondela beach has several parking areas nearby, which, although it can be a bit more challenging on the busiest days in mid-summer, generally doesn't present major problems. We advise arriving early during the high season to secure a good spot.

For those who prefer public transport, Redondela is well connected by bus and train. From the Redondela bus or train station, a short walk or a taxi can take us directly to the beach. This option is ideal if we want to forget about the car and enjoy a day of total carefreeness. Furthermore, the walk from the center of Redondela to Arealonga is pleasant and allows us to soak up the local atmosphere before reaching our beach destination.

The Sand and the Water

One of the aspects that captivates us most about Playa de Arealonga is, without a doubt, the quality of its sand and the placidity of its waters. The sand is a soft golden hue, extremely fine and pleasant to the touch, making it perfect for walking barefoot, sunbathing, or, as already mentioned, for children to play without worrying about stones or annoying elements. It's sand that warms just right under the Galician sun, inviting you to lay out a towel and simply let yourself be carried away by the sound of the waves, which here are more of a soft murmur.

The waters of Arealonga are another of its great attractions. Being sheltered within the Ría de Vigo, the beach is protected from the strong currents and intense waves characteristic of the open Atlantic. Additionally, near the Redondela beach we will find several restaurants where we can taste the excellent local cuisine. The nearby parking, although sometimes busy, is a fundamental service that facilitates access to the beach. It is also important to note that the beach is kept clean thanks to a regular cleaning service, which contributes to the overall pleasant experience. It is not a beach with massive infrastructure, but what it offers, it does with quality and with the visitor's well-being in mind.

Choosing the best time to visit Playa de Arealonga depends a lot on what we are looking for in our experience. We, if our main goal is bathing and fully enjoying the sun, undoubtedly recommend the months of July and August. During this period, temperatures are the warmest, the sun shines most intensely, and the water reaches its most pleasant temperature. However, it is also the high season, which means the beach will be more crowded, especially on weekends. If a lively atmosphere doesn't bother us, these months are ideal.
