How to Get to Playa del Arenal

Getting to Playa del Arenal is relatively easy, given its excellent location in La Manga del Mar Menor, a well-connected area of the Region of Murcia. If we come from the capital, Murcia, the drive will take approximately 45-50 minutes, following the RM-19 highway and then the RM-12 towards La Manga. From Cartagena, the distance is even shorter, about 30-35 minutes, taking the same RM-12.

Access from Airports

For our international or national travelers arriving by plane, we have two main options:

• Region of Murcia International Airport (RMU): This is the closest, about 30-35 kilometers away. From here, a taxi or rental car will get us to the beach in approximately 25-30 minutes.
• Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC): Although it's further away, about 100 kilometers, it offers a greater variety of flights. The drive from Alicante to Playa del Arenal usually takes about an hour and fifteen minutes, taking the AP-7 and then the RM-12.

Parking

Once in the area, access by car is comfortable. In the vicinity of the beach and along the promenade, we usually find parking areas, both free and paid (blue zone, especially in high season). Our recommendation is to arrive early, especially in the summer months, to secure a good spot and avoid crowds. The good infrastructure of the area greatly facilitates arrival and stay.

The Sand and Water

When we talk about Playa del Arenal, one of the first details that comes to mind is the quality of its sand. We are faced with fine, golden sand, incredibly soft to the touch, inviting us to walk barefoot and build sandcastles with the children. • Shallow depth: We can walk many meters out to sea and the water will barely cover our waist. This feature is fantastic for children to enjoy without risks and for adults to relax without worrying about currents or sudden depths. It's like having a giant natural swimming pool at our disposal.
