How to Get to Cala Flores

Getting to Cala Flores is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination. From Cartagena, the drive will take you about 20-25 minutes, taking the road towards La Manga del Mar Menor (RM-12). Before the urbanized areas of La Manga, you'll find turn-offs towards residential areas and coves like Cala Flores, near Cabo de Palos.

For those staying in La Manga del Mar Menor or Cabo de Palos, access is even easier, often just a few minutes by car. Once in the vicinity, you'll find areas to park on the adjacent streets. It's important to consider that parking can be more difficult during the busiest months (July and August), so we recommend arriving early. It's also possible to get there by public transport from Cartagena, although the frequencies are lower.

The Sand and Water

When we talk about Cala Flores, it's crucial to describe the peculiarity of its surface and the quality of its waters, two of its greatest attractions. The cove is not characterized by a uniform stretch of fine sand, but by an interesting mix. Choosing the best time to visit Cala Flores depends on what you're looking for. We, based on our visits, can offer you some recommendations.

If your main goal is tranquility and enjoying the cove almost alone, we advise the spring months (April, May, and early June) and the beginning of autumn (September and October). During these periods, temperatures are pleasant, the sun warms without being oppressive, and the number of visitors is considerably lower. The waters are already inviting for a swim, and it's the ideal time for walking, reading, and practicing snorkel in peace.

If you prefer to enjoy the beach with the guarantee of warmer water temperatures and all services running at full capacity, then the summer months (late June, July, and August) are your option. However, keep in mind that in July and, especially, in August, Cala Flores is more crowded. If you choose summer, our recommendation is to go first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the midday hours.
