Today we explore one of those corners of Lanzarote that stay etched in your memory and heart: Playa del Jablillo. Located in the vibrant area of Costa Teguise, this small but charming cove is a true oasis of tranquility and natural beauty. Stepping onto its sand, you immediately feel the relaxed atmosphere that surrounds it, a perfect contrast to the volcanic energy that characterizes the island.

Playa del Jablillo is not just any beach; it's a refuge where the sea shows its gentlest side, protected by a natural barrier of volcanic rocks that act as a giant breakwater. This creates a natural pool of crystal-clear, shallow waters, ideal for everyone, but especially for those seeking a safe and pleasant swim. How to Get to Playa del Jablillo

Getting to Playa del Jablillo is really easy, which adds to its appeal. It's located in the heart of Costa Teguise, one of Lanzarote's main tourist hubs, in the municipality of Teguise. If you're staying in Costa Teguise, you can likely walk there via its pleasant promenade. We really enjoyed the morning walks that led us directly to the shore, with the gentle murmur of the sea as our soundtrack.

By Car

If you're coming from other parts of the island or prefer the comfort of your own vehicle, access is excellent. From Arrecife, the capital, the journey takes about 15-20 minutes on well-signposted roads. Once in Costa Teguise, following signs to the beach area or the center will get you there without problems. There is free parking on the surrounding streets, although in high season it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot close to the beach; we recommend arriving early. We always preferred to find a spot a little further away and take a short walk.

By Bus

Lanzarote's public transport network, operated by IntercityBus, connects Costa Teguise with Arrecife and other towns. Several lines have stops in the Playa del Jablillo area, making it a comfortable and economical option if you don't have a car. Check the schedules and routes, as they can vary, but it's an excellent way to get around the island without worries.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that captivated us about Playa del Jablillo was its sand. It's a fine, soft white sand, a delight for the feet, which contrasts wonderfully with the turquoise blue of the Atlantic. It's sand that invites you to take off your shoes and feel every grain under your feet, ideal for building sandcastles or simply lying down and relaxing. We couldn't resist taking long walks along the shore, enjoying the texture and cleanliness of the surroundings.

But if the sand is a strong point, the water is undoubtedly the crown jewel. Thanks to the protection of the volcanic reefs, the waters of Playa del Jablillo are extraordinarily calm and crystal-clear, almost like a natural swimming pool. This makes it an idyllic spot for swimming, especially for young children or those who aren't comfortable with strong waves. The underwater visibility is fantastic, making it a paradise for snorkeling. We spent hours exploring the seabed, amazed by the diversity of fish swimming around us. The water temperature, mild year-round, invites you to dive right in.

Services and Facilities

One of the great advantages of Playa del Jablillo is the excellent range of services it offers, designed to ensure a comfortable and worry-free day at the beach. We really appreciated the presence of showers, which allowed us to rinse off the salt and sand before returning to our accommodation. Furthermore, there are public toilets, always a plus when traveling with family or planning to spend the whole day at the beach.

Essential Amenities

For those seeking extra comfort, the beach offers umbrella and sunbed rentals, which allowed us to enjoy the shade and rest comfortably without having to carry our own equipment. Accessibility is another strong point; we noticed it has ramps and walkways that facilitate access for people with reduced mobility, making this a truly inclusive beach. Lifeguards are present during the bathing season, providing us with additional peace of mind, knowing we are in a safe environment.

Gastronomic and Leisure Offer

Right on the promenade bordering the beach, we found an excellent selection of chiringuitos and restaurants. After a good swim, there's nothing like enjoying a refreshing drink or a delicious lunch with sea views. We tried several and all offered varied options, from local tapas to international dishes. For families, there is a nearby children's play area where kids can play and burn off energy while adults relax. The parking nearby, although sometimes busy, is an essential service for many visitors.

Best Time to Visit

Lanzarote enjoys a privileged climate year-round, known as the 'eternal spring'. This means Playa del Jablillo is a fantastic destination in any season. We've been lucky enough to visit it at different times and it has always welcomed us with radiant sun and pleasant temperatures.
