How to Get to Playa de la Cera

For this, our usual starting point is the municipality of Yaiza, a charming white village that serves as a prelude to the island's volcanic nature.

From Yaiza, we will take the road towards Playa Blanca. Before reaching the center of Playa Blanca, we will see the signs directing us to the Papagayo beaches. It is important to know that, to access the natural park with a motor vehicle, there is a small toll that is paid at a control booth. This payment, usually around 3 euros per car, is allocated to the maintenance and conservation of the environment, something we deeply value to preserve the beauty of this place.

Once inside the park, the road turns into a dirt track. It is a journey of approximately 15-20 minutes, which, although it can be a bit bumpy for some vehicles, can be traversed without major problems if driven with caution. The arid and volcanic landscape that surrounds us during this route is impressive and prepares us for the natural wonder that awaits us. At the end of the track, we will find extensive unpaved parking areas, strategically distributed near the different coves. From the parking closest to Playa de la Cera, we will have to walk a few minutes along well-marked trails, which require comfortable footwear. The walk is light and allows us to enjoy the panoramic views of the coastline, with Fuerteventura and the Isla de Lobos outlined on the horizon. We feel that this slightly more 'difficult' access is precisely what helps keep the beach in its most pristine and less crowded state, which is always a plus.
