How to get to Playa de la Caleta

Getting to Playa de la Caleta is part of the adventure and, at the same time, a journey that gifts us spectacular views of the La Gomera landscape. From the picturesque Valle de Hermigua, access is relatively simple and well-signposted, although we always recommend driving carefully on the island's winding roads.

Route from Hermigua

To reach the beach, we must take the GM-1 road heading north from the center of Hermigua. Shortly after passing the urban area, we'll find a turnoff towards the coast, clearly marked as 'Playa de la Caleta'. This road winds through lush banana plantations and palm groves, offering us impressive panoramic views of the valley and the ocean. The road, although narrow in some sections, is paved and in good condition, facilitating access even for those not accustomed to mountain roads.

Transportation options

• Private or rental car: It is, without a doubt, the most comfortable and recommended option for visiting Playa de la Caleta and exploring the surroundings of Hermigua and the rest of La Gomera. It gives us the freedom to move at our own pace and stop at the numerous viewpoints we'll find along the way.
• Taxi: From Hermigua, we can opt for a taxi, which will drop us off directly at the beach parking. It's a good alternative if we don't want to drive or if we prefer to relax and enjoy the scenery.
• Public transport: Public transport options are more limited in this area. Although Hermigua has some intercity bus lines, they don't go directly to the beach. It would be necessary to get off in Hermigua and walk or take a taxi.

Parking and final access

Once we reach the end of the road descending to the coast, we'll find a designated parking area, although it's not excessively large. During the busier months, it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot, so we recommend arriving early.
