Playa del Pas is not your typical long, sandy beach full of amenities; it's much more than that. It's an invitation to disconnect, to reconnect with nature in its purest state. Nestled in the stunning Cap de Creus Natural Park, this cove offers postcard-perfect landscapes, incredibly transparent waters, and a peace that few places can offer. How to Get to Playa del Pas

Getting to Playa del Pas is part of the adventure and charm of this place. Don't expect to find a direct, signposted access like at more touristy beaches. In fact, its relative discretion is what helps maintain its essence. We recommend first arriving in El Port de la Selva, a charming fishing village that's worth a visit in itself. Once there, you'll find parking in the designated areas of the village, especially outside of peak season, as it can be more difficult in summer.

From the center of El Port de la Selva, the cove is a relatively short distance away, which can be covered on foot. The route is simple and will allow you to enjoy the coastal views. Basically, you need to head north from the village, following the coastline. The signs aren't always obvious, but asking locals or using an online map will be a great help. It's a pleasant walk that prepares your senses for the beauty that awaits. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, as the path is uneven in some sections.

The Sand and Water

The first thing we notice when stepping onto Playa del Pas is its unique composition. Don't expect a fine, soft carpet of golden sand; here, the beach is mixed sand, combining coarser grains with small stones and pebbles polished by the sea. This characteristic gives it a rustic, natural charm, and is one of the reasons why it's usually not overcrowded. We love it because it gives it an authentic, wild character.

But if there's one thing we adore about this cove, it's its waters. They are simply spectacular! With a transparency that amazes, their color ranges from turquoise blue to emerald, irresistibly inviting you to dive in. The water quality is exceptional, making it a paradise for snorkeling lovers. The entrance to the sea is gentle in some areas, but it quickly gains depth, revealing a seabed full of life. The rocks that flank it and the posidonia seagrass meadows are home to fish and other marine creatures, making every dive a small underwater expedition. The water temperature, especially in the summer months, is very pleasant, perfect for cooling off and spending hours exploring.

Services and Facilities

As we've already hinted, Playa del Pas is characterized precisely by its lack of major infrastructure. And for us, that's precisely its greatest appeal! This cove does not have direct services like beach bars, showers, lifeguards, or umbrella and sunbed rentals. It's a beach to be enjoyed in its purest, most natural state, which requires us to be prepared and bring everything we might need.

Prepare for Nature

• Water and food: It's essential to bring enough water and something to snack on, as there are no points of sale at the cove.
• Sun protection: A hat, sunglasses, and high-protection sunscreen are essential, especially during the midday hours.
• Suitable footwear: Water shoes or aqua socks can be very useful for moving comfortably on the mixed sand and rocky areas, both in and out of the water.
• Towels and umbrella: A small umbrella can be a great ally for sun protection, as the cove doesn't offer much natural shade.

Best Time to Visit

While Playa del Pas is a wonderful destination at any time, there are certain times of the year when it shines with its own light and where the experience is, in our opinion, unbeatable.

Spring and Early Summer (May, June)

These months are, without a doubt, our top recommendation. The weather is mild, with pleasant temperatures that invite swimming without the oppressive heat of peak summer. Furthermore, the number of visitors is considerably lower than in mid-August, allowing you to enjoy the cove with almost exclusive tranquility. Nature is at its peak splendor, and the landscapes are breathtakingly beautiful. It's the ideal time for those seeking relaxation, spectacular photos, and the opportunity to explore at a leisurely pace.

Late Summer and Early Autumn (September, early October)
