How to Get to Playa de Sant Pere Pescador

Getting to Playa de Sant Pere Pescador is relatively straightforward, although most visitors opt for a private vehicle for greater comfort. We always recommend planning the route in advance, especially when traveling during high season.

By Car

The most common way to get there is by car. From the city of Girona, we take the AP-7 towards France and then exit 5 (L'Escala/Empúries). From there, we follow the signs to Sant Pere Pescador. The C-31 road also leads directly to the municipality. Once in the town, several roads lead to the different beach access points. There are designated parking areas, some free and others paid, especially near the beach bars and sports schools. We usually look for the less crowded access points to find parking more easily.

By Public Transport

Public transport is a more limited, but possible, option. We can take a train to Figueres station, which has high-speed connections. From Figueres, there are bus lines (Sarfa, for example) that go to Sant Pere Pescador. Once in the town, the beach is a short distance away, although to reach the more remote sections or camping areas, a taxi or a good walk might be necessary. We prefer the car for moving freely around the area.

By Bicycle

For the more adventurous, Playa de Sant Pere Pescador is accessible via several cycling routes that cross the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, offering spectacular landscapes and a sustainable way to arrive. It's an option we love for enjoying the surroundings.

Fine Golden Sand

We are faced with a beach of fine sand with a golden hue that invites walking barefoot. The width of the sandy area is remarkable, allowing us to always find a quiet spot to lay out our towel without feeling crowded. It's ideal for building sandcastles with the little ones or simply for enjoying a relaxing walk along the shore. The cleanliness of the sand is generally excellent, an aspect guaranteed by the Blue Flag that flies here annually.

Clean and Shallow Waters

The waters of Playa de Sant Pere Pescador are, in general, very clean and a transparent blue, perfect for a refreshing swim. In many sections, the entry into the sea is very gentle, with a minimal slope, making it an exceptionally safe beach for children. They can play at the water's edge calmly, under our supervision, without the water rising too quickly. Although there can be some waves on windy days, it's usually moderate, ideal for splashing around or starting water sports.

One of the strong points of Playa de Sant Pere Pescador is the complete range of services and facilities it offers its visitors. We highly value the comfort this adds to our beach day.

Here we will find a wide variety of amenities, including:

• Showers and Toilets/WCs: Essential for freshening up and maintaining hygiene after swimming.
• Parking: As mentioned, there are several parking areas, facilitating access to the beach.
• Beach Bars (Chiringuitos) and Restaurants: During the beach season, especially at the main access points, we'll find several beach bars where we can have a drink, an ice cream, or enjoy a light meal with sea views. Some offer a more elaborate menu, almost like small beachfront restaurants.
• Lifeguard Services: During the bathing season, the beach has lifeguard and surveillance services, which gives us great peace of mind, especially when going with children. The Blue Flag is a clear indicator of this beach's safety and quality.
• Sun Loungers and Umbrellas: In some areas, it's possible to rent sun loungers and umbrellas, saving us from carrying our own equipment and allowing us to relax comfortably.
• Equipment Rental: Given its sporting vocation, there are plenty of rental centers for kitesurfing, windsurfing, paddle surfing, and kayaking equipment. It's a fantastic opportunity to try these sports.
