How to Get to Playa de Roses

Getting to Playa de Roses is relatively easy, given its privileged location and the good transport connections offered by the municipality. We always recommend planning the trip in advance, especially if visiting during the high season, to ensure the best experience.

By Car

For many, the car is the most comfortable and flexible option. From Barcelona or the French border, the AP-7 motorway is the main route. We must take exit 3 (Figueres / Roses) and follow the signs to Roses via the C-260 road. The journey from Barcelona usually takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Once in Roses, we will find several parking areas, both paid (underground car parks and blue zones) and some free ones on the outskirts of the centre, although the latter tend to fill up quickly in summer. We advise arriving early to avoid parking problems.

By Public Transport

If we prefer not to drive, public transport is an excellent alternative:

• Bus: Roses has a bus station that connects the town with Figueres, Girona and other nearby towns. From Figueres bus station, there are regular services that will take us directly to Roses. If we arrive in Girona or Barcelona by train or plane, we can take a direct bus to Roses. The company Sagalés is one of the main operators in the area.
• Train: The nearest train station is in Figueres, which has high-speed (AVE) and regional services. From there, as mentioned, we can take a bus that will drop us off in Roses in about 30-40 minutes. It is an option that we consider very practical for those coming from afar.

By Plane

The most convenient airports to reach Playa de Roses are:

• Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO): About 60 km from Roses, it is the closest. From there, we can take a direct bus to Roses during the high season, or a taxi/rental car.
• Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN): About 160 km away. It offers more international flight options. From Barcelona, we can take a train or bus to Figueres and then another bus to Roses, or rent a car.

The Sand and Water

The experience of the sand and water at Playa de Roses is undoubtedly one of its greatest attractions. We, who have visited countless beaches, can affirm that this combination is ideal for everyone's enjoyment.

The Sand

Playa de Roses is characterised by its fine, golden sand, a delight for the senses. Walking barefoot, we will notice its softness under our feet, making it perfect for long walks along the shore. Its texture is also ideal for the little ones to build sandcastles and play without worrying about rocks or stones. It is clean, well-maintained sand that stretches for almost two kilometres, offering plenty of space to spread out a towel and enjoy the sun without excessive crowds, even on the busiest days.

The Water

As for the water, Playa de Roses surprises us with its clarity and cleanliness. The waters of the Bay of Roses are calm and shallow, making them an exceptionally safe place for children and the elderly to bathe. We highly value this characteristic, as it allows families to relax knowing that the little ones can splash around with confidence. The colour of the water, ranging from turquoise to light blue, invites you to dive in and enjoy a refreshing swim. The calmness of its waters is also perfect for practising gentle water sports, such as paddle surfing or kayaking, without worrying about strong currents.
