How to Get to Playa de Pals

Getting to Playa de Pals is relatively straightforward, and most of the time we will opt for the car, as it offers the greatest flexibility to also explore the surroundings. From the city of Girona, the journey is approximately 50 kilometers and will take us about 45-50 minutes by road, following the C-66 and turning off towards Pals. The signs are clear and the access is well signposted, which makes arrival much easier even for first-time visitors to the area.

Car Access and Parking

If we come by car, we will find several parking areas, both paid and free, along the length of the beach. It's true that in high season, especially in July and August, the parking lots closest to the sand can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early to secure a good spot. There are quite spacious public parking areas along the promenade and near the main access points, some of them shaded. Planning our arrival in advance will save us headaches and allow us to enjoy the beach from the very first moment.

Public Transport

Public transport to get directly to Playa de Pals is somewhat more limited, although options exist. During the summer months, some bus lines connect the medieval town of Pals with the beach, and there are also connections with nearby towns like Palafrugell or Torroella de Montgrí, from where we could take a taxi or a local bus. However, for a more comfortable and schedule-free experience, the car remains the best alternative. For those staying in the town of Pals, the distance to the beach is about 4-5 kilometers, a journey that can be done by bicycle on rural paths or by car in a few minutes.

The Sand and Water

One of the greatest attractions of Playa de Pals is, without a doubt, its sand. We marvel at its texture: fine and golden, incredibly soft underfoot. It's the kind of sand that invites walking barefoot for kilometers, building sandcastles with children, or simply lying down and feeling its warmth. Being such an extensive beach, the sand never feels compacted and always offers a clean and well-kept appearance, reflecting the commitment to its maintenance. It's perfect for lovers of long walks along the shore, where the vastness of the landscape allows us to lose our gaze on the horizon.

The waters of Playa de Pals are, in general, clean and transparent, with a quality that has earned it the Blue Flag distinction on numerous occasions. Its color varies between turquoise blue and emerald green, depending on the sunlight and depth. The entry into the sea is gentle and gradual, making it a very safe place for swimming, especially for children and those uncomfortable with sudden drop-offs. However, we must consider that, being a beach open to the sea, there can be days with some swell, especially when the tramontana or garbí winds blow. These days are, precisely, the favorites for water sports practitioners, who find perfect conditions in the wind and waves.

We always recommend paying attention to the lifeguards' warning flags, which inform us of the sea conditions. The water temperature is typically Mediterranean, pleasant and refreshing in summer, and cooler in spring and autumn, which doesn't stop some brave souls from taking a dip. The combination of fine sand and exceptionally high-quality water makes Playa de Pals a true paradise for enjoying a complete and pleasant beach day.
