How to Get to Playa de les Muscleres

Getting to Playa de les Muscleres is quite simple, which is always a plus when we plan our getaways. We usually go by car, as it gives us the flexibility to explore the surroundings. From L'Escala, just follow the signs to the Empúries Ruins, as the beach is right next to them, just a few minutes from the town center. There are regulated parking areas nearby, which makes finding a spot easier, although in high season it can be a bit more challenging.

For those who prefer public transport, there are bus lines connecting L'Escala with other towns in the province of Girona, and from the center of L'Escala you can reach the beach with a pleasant walk or by bike, enjoying the coastal landscape. The proximity to the ruins is a plus, as we can easily combine a beach day with a cultural visit, something we always love to do.

The Sand and Water

Playa de les Muscleres captivates us immediately with the quality of its sand. It is fine and of a soft golden tone, very pleasant to the touch and perfect for laying out a towel and building sandcastles with the little ones. Walking barefoot on it is a pleasure and one of the sensations we value most in a good beach. The cleanliness of the sand is also a notable point, contributing to the overall feeling of well-being and care for the environment.

As for the water, it is simply spectacular. The waters of les Muscleres are calm, transparent, and present shades ranging from light blue to turquoise, inviting you to dive in from the first moment. The shallow depth near the shore makes it a safe place for children, and the absence of strong currents allows us to swim and relax without worries. It is the kind of water that refreshes and revitalizes you, leaving you wanting more. The type of seabed is predominantly sand, which makes entering the sea very comfortable and gentle.

Best Time to Visit

We believe that Playa de les Muscleres is a wonderful destination for much of the year, but there are times that, due to their particularities, we consider ideal. The high season, covering the months of July and August, is when the beach is at its peak in terms of services and atmosphere. However, it is also when there is the highest influx of people, which, for some, can be a drawback.

Our personal recommendation is to visit the beach during the months of June and September. During these times, the weather is still splendid, the water temperatures are perfect for swimming, and, most importantly for us, the influx of tourists is considerably lower. This allows us to enjoy greater tranquility, find parking more easily, and feel like we have a bit more space for ourselves. Spring and autumn are also excellent for walks along the shore and enjoying the landscape, although the water may already be a bit cold for a prolonged swim.

Although Playa de les Muscleres is known for its relaxed atmosphere, there is no shortage of options for those who, like us, enjoy staying active during their holidays. The calm and clear waters are an ideal setting for various water activities, and the natural surroundings invite exploration.
