How to Get to Playa de l'Argilera

Getting to Playa de l'Argilera is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it is quite accessible. Located on the coast of Llancà, its main access is generally from the town center itself or from the road that runs along the coast.

By Car

If we come by car, the best option is to head towards Llancà. From cities like Girona, the most direct route is usually the AP-7 to the Figueres exit, and then continue on secondary roads like the N-260 and GI-612 which take us directly to Llancà. Once in the municipality, Playa de l'Argilera is well signposted. Finding parking can be a bit more difficult in high season, as it does not have a large exclusive parking lot directly at the cove, but there are generally public parking areas on nearby streets or around the port, from where we can walk to the beach in a few minutes. We always recommend arriving early to secure a good spot, especially if we visit the beach in the summer months. The walk to the cove is pleasant and allows us to gradually discover the charm of the surroundings.

On Foot or by Bicycle

For hiking and cycling enthusiasts, Playa de l'Argilera is an accessible point via the network of coastal paths and trails that run along the Costa Brava. The famous GR 92, which winds along the entire Catalan coast, passes very close to this cove, offering spectacular views. Walking or cycling a section of this path to reach the beach is an experience we highly recommend, as it allows us to appreciate the beauty of the coastal landscape and the rich Mediterranean vegetation. It's a way to connect even more with the natural environment before enjoying a well-deserved swim in the crystal-clear waters of the beach in Llancà.

The Sand and Water

Playa de l'Argilera surprises us with its unique composition. Don't expect to find the typical fine, golden sand that characterizes other Mediterranean beaches here. Instead, we are greeted by a mixed type of sand, composed of a mixture of coarse sand and small pebbles or stones. This type of ground gives it a more natural and wild character, and is precisely what makes it so special. We love the feeling of the little stones under our feet, a constant reminder that we are in a genuine and largely unspoiled environment.

Basic Services

Among the services we can find, the showers stand out, which are very much appreciated for washing off the salt and sand after a refreshing swim. It's important to remember that, as with many beaches on the Costa Brava, these services are usually seasonal, operating mainly during the summer months. Regarding parking, as we have already mentioned, there is no massive parking lot directly on the sand, but it is possible to find spaces on the streets adjacent to the cove or near the port of Llancà, a few minutes' walk away. This helps maintain the calmer, less crowded atmosphere of the beach.

Absence of Other Services

It is important to consider that Playa de l'Argilera does not have chiringuitos, restaurants, or umbrella and sunbed rental services directly on the sand. Nor will we find specific sports or children's areas. This, far from being an inconvenience, is part of its charm, as it fosters an atmosphere
