How to Get to Playa d'en Calau

Getting to Playa d'en Calau is part of the adventure and, fortunately, a very simple one. Being situated in the heart of Calella de Palafrugell, its location is privileged and its access is comfortable, especially if we are already in this charming coastal town. We always recommend a walk to soak up the atmosphere, but there are several options to get here.

From Calella de Palafrugell on Foot

If you are already staying in Calella de Palafrugell, the best way to get to Playa d'en Calau is undoubtedly on foot. The cove is located right next to the famous Port Bo beach and Les Voltes, just a few minutes from the town's most emblematic spots. Simply follow the Camino de Ronda that winds along the coast. It's a short and very pleasant walk, which will allow you to enjoy the views of the typical white houses of the area and the comings and goings of boats in the harbor. It's a route suitable for almost everyone, although it's important to know that there are some stairs and uneven sections, typical of coastal paths. For us, it's the ideal way to start the beach day, as it immerses us fully in the maritime atmosphere of Calella.

By Car and Parking

If you're coming from outside Calella, you'll most likely arrive by car. The municipality of Palafrugell has good road connections. Once in Calella de Palafrugell, the main challenge can be finding parking, especially during the summer months. We advise you to look for public parking lots or regulated parking areas (blue zone) near the town center. From there, Playa d'en Calau will be a short walk away. It's important to consider that, during high season, parking can fill up quickly, so arriving early is a strategy that always works for us.

Public Transport

Although there is no public transport that drops you off directly on the sand of Playa d'en Calau, you can reach Calella de Palafrugell by bus from other nearby towns or from the Palafrugell bus station, which has connections to Girona and Barcelona. Once at the Calella bus station, the cove will be about a 10-15 minute walk away. For us, public transport is a sustainable and relaxing option if you don't want to worry about parking.
