How to Get to Playa de Les Cases

Getting to Playa de Les Cases in Almenara is quite straightforward, making it an accessible destination for many. We always recommend planning your route in advance, although the signage is usually clear.

By Car

If you're coming by car, which is the most comfortable option for most, you can take the A-7 motorway or the AP-7 (toll road) heading towards Valencia or Castellón, depending on your starting point. The closest exit for Almenara is number 48. Once in Almenara, signs for 'Playa' or 'Les Cases' will guide you without any problems. There are several free parking areas along the promenade and adjacent streets, although they can fill up quickly during high season, so we advise arriving early.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer public transport, the Almenara train station has commuter services (Renfe's C-6 line) connecting to Valencia and Castellón. From Almenara station, the beach is about 3-4 kilometers away. You can opt for a taxi, a local bus (if there is service at that time, which is often more limited), or even a pleasant bike ride if you feel like it and the weather is good. We've walked the path a few times and it's a nice way to see the town before reaching the coast.

The Sand and Water

One of the most distinctive features of Playa de Les Cases is its unique composition. Unlike many beaches in Castellón with fine, golden sand, here we find a fascinating mix. The ground is predominantly pebbles and small stones, interspersed with areas of coarser sand. This particularity gives it a rustic and natural charm that we love. It's true that it can be a bit more uncomfortable to walk barefoot at first, but with a good pair of beach sandals, it's wonderful!

The waters of Playa de Les Cases are generally very calm and crystal clear. The slope for entering the sea is gentle, making it ideal for swimming and especially safe for children. The clarity of the water allows you to see the pebble bottom, adding a touch of purity to the experience. We've spent hours watching small fish swim near the shore. Furthermore, the fact that it usually flies the Blue Flag is a guarantee of the excellent quality of its waters and the services it offers.

• Showers and Toilets/WCs: Along the promenade you'll find several areas with showers to rinse off the salt and seawater, as well as public toilets, which are kept in good condition.
• Parking: As we already mentioned, there are ample free parking areas near the beach, which is a great advantage, especially if you're traveling with a lot of luggage or with family.

• Chiringuitos: Several chiringuitos (beach bars) dot the coastline, offering refreshing drinks, ice creams, and light meals. They are perfect for a midday snack or to enjoy a drink at sunset. The atmosphere is usually relaxed and very summery.
• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: In some areas, especially near the chiringuitos, you can find sunbed and umbrella rental services, which will save you from carrying your own if you prefer to travel lighter. We sometimes rent them to avoid having to set up and take down our own equipment.
• Promenade: An extensive and well-maintained promenade runs the entire length of the beach, ideal for walking, running, or cycling. It's a very pleasant place to enjoy the sea views at any time of day.

Best Time to Visit

We, as beach lovers, have visited Playa de Les Cases at different times of the year and can assure you that each season has its charm. However, to fully enjoy the sun and swimming experience, there are key moments.

Summer (June to September)

Undoubtedly, summer is the most popular time. The temperatures are warm, the sun shines brightly, and the sea water is perfect for swimming. It's when all services are operating at one hundred percent: lifeguards, chiringuitos, umbrella rentals... The atmosphere is livelier, but without becoming overwhelming like at other more crowded beaches. If you're looking for the effervescence of the Spanish summer,
