How to Get to Playa de La Arena

Getting to Playa de La Arena is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination for everyone. We always recommend the car as the most comfortable option, especially if we're traveling with children or a lot of luggage. The beach is located in the municipality of Arnuero, very close to towns like Isla and Noja, which makes it easy to find.

By Car

If we're coming from Santander, we'll take the A-8 motorway towards Bilbao and then the exit towards Beranga/Noja/Isla. From there, we'll follow the signs to Isla and then to Playa de La Arena. The journey is picturesque and offers us a first glimpse of the green Cantabrian landscape. Once near the beach, we'll find designated Parking areas, although in high season they can fill up quickly, so we advise arriving early to secure a good spot.

Public Transport

Although there are bus lines connecting Arnuero and nearby towns with Santander, the frequency and proximity of the stops to the beach can be limited. Therefore, for the convenience of arriving directly at the sand, a private vehicle is usually the best choice. However, if you prefer public transport, check the timetables of the lines operating in the Isla-Quejo area, as some might leave you within walking distance.

The Sand and the Water

• Parking: As mentioned earlier, there are nearby parking areas, although on the busiest days it's advisable to arrive early.
• Accessibility: While the beach doesn't have full certified accessibility for people with reduced mobility at all points, it does have adapted access in some areas, facilitating enjoyment for a greater number of visitors. It is, without a doubt, the busiest time. Temperatures are warmer, days are longer, and the water invites you for a swim. All services are fully operational (lifeguards, chiringuitos, equipment rental). It's ideal if we want to fully enjoy the sun and sea, but we must also be aware that the beach will be more crowded. July and August are the peak months.
