How to Get to Playa de Brazomar

Getting to Playa de Brazomar is relatively easy, given its privileged location in the urban center of Castro Urdiales. We always recommend planning your route a little, especially if you're coming during the high season.

By Car

If you're traveling by car, the A-8 motorway (Autovía del Cantábrico) is the main access route to Castro Urdiales. You should take the exit indicating 'Castro Urdiales' and follow the signs towards the city center or the Brazomar area. The beach is very well signposted once you approach the municipality. From Santander or Bilbao, the journey is comfortable and relatively short, approximately 30-40 minutes.

Parking

Parking is one of the points that always concerns us when visiting urban beaches. In the Brazomar area, there are several parking options. There are regulated parking zones (ORA/OTA) on the streets surrounding the beach, which are usually paid during the day. You can also find some underground car parks in the center of Castro Urdiales, within walking distance of the beach. In the high season, parking can be a challenge, so we advise arriving early or considering using public transport if you're staying nearby.

Public Transport

Castro Urdiales has a good network of urban buses that connect different points of the city with the Brazomar area. If you're staying in the center or other areas of the municipality, checking the local bus lines can be a very convenient and sustainable option. Furthermore, there are intercity bus lines connecting Castro Urdiales with other important cities in Cantabria and the Basque Country, such as Santander, Bilbao, or Laredo, which facilitates access if you're not traveling by your own car.

For our comfort, the beach has showers distributed along the sand, ideal for washing off salt and sand after swimming. It also has public toilets/WC, which are usually well-maintained, a fundamental aspect for a beach with such high attendance.

Safety is a priority at Brazomar. During the bathing season, the beach has an active lifeguard and surveillance service, with rescue posts and qualified personnel who watch over the safety of bathers. This gives us great peace of mind, especially if we're with children.

Full Accessibility

We are pleased to highlight that Playa de Brazomar is a beach with full accessibility. This means it has adapted access ramps, walkways that reach the sand, and even, during the high season, it usually has amphibious chairs and support staff to facilitate swimming for people with reduced mobility.
