How to Get to Playa de Levante (Los Toruños)

Getting to Playa de Levante (Los Toruños) is relatively straightforward, though it requires a little preparation as it's located within a natural park. We always recommend planning the route to make the most of the visit. If we come by car, the most common way is to head towards the main entrance of the Los Toruños and Pinar de La Algaida Metropolitan Park, located on Avenida del Mar, in Valdelagrana, El Puerto de Santa María. There we'll find a fairly large and free parking area, which is a great advantage, especially during high season.

Once we've parked, the adventure begins. From the parking lot, we cannot access the beach directly by car; instead, we must cover a stretch on foot or by bicycle, crossing the park. There's a wooden walkway that crosses the marshes, which in itself is a beautiful and very pleasant walk. This path leads us directly to the beach area. For those who prefer not to walk as much, during the summer months there is usually a small tourist train or a minibus service that facilitates transport from the park entrance to the beach, a very comfortable option, especially if we're carrying loads or have small children. It's also possible to arrive by bicycle, as the park has very well-marked bike lanes that allow us to enjoy the landscape while heading to the shore.

If we opt for public transport, some urban bus lines in El Puerto de Santa María have stops near the park entrance, although frequency may vary depending on the time of year. From Cádiz city, we can take a catamaran to El Puerto de Santa María and, once there, connect by bus or taxi. Whichever option we choose, the journey to the beach is already part of the experience, gradually immersing us in the natural beauty of the surroundings before stepping onto the sand.

The Sand and Water

It's the kind of sand that invites us to walk barefoot, build sandcastles with the little ones, or simply spread out a towel and feel its warmth under the sun. We love how the sand mixes with small seashells, adding a natural and authentic touch with every step.

The waters of Playa de Levante (Los Toruños) are generally calm, with gentle or practically non-existent waves, making it an exceptionally safe place for swimming, especially for children. The water clarity is remarkable, and on sunny days, we can appreciate how the light filters through, revealing a sandy and clean seabed. The water temperature, typical of the Andalusian Atlantic, is refreshing in summer and, although it may seem a bit cool at first, it's very pleasant for beating the heat.

We highlight the shallow depth the water maintains near the shore for many meters, which is fantastic for children to play safely and for adults to relax without worrying about strong currents. The tide here is a factor to consider; at low tide, the beach expands even more, creating extensive sandy plains ideal for walking or practicing beach sports. At high tide, the water approaches the dunes, but always leaving enough space to enjoy. It's this combination of soft sand, serene waters, and an impeccable natural environment that makes us return to this wonderful beach again and again.
