How to get to Playa de Rusalka

Getting to Playa de Rusalka, on the northern coast of Bulgaria's Black Sea, is an exciting part of the adventure. The location, while not as accessible as some Spanish beaches with nearby airports, offers a scenic and rewarding route. The most convenient international airports to fly into are Varna Airport (VAR), located approximately 80 kilometers away, and Burgas Airport (BOJ), a bit further, about 180 kilometers away.

From Varna, the most flexible and recommended option by us is to rent a car. The road journey usually takes about an hour and a half, depending on traffic and road conditions. The most common route is to take the E87 highway north and then turn off onto road 992, which will take you directly to the Rusalka area. A car will give you the freedom to explore not only the beach, but also the fascinating surroundings at your own pace. The Bulgarian beaches offer a diverse landscape and your own vehicle is key to discovering it.

If you prefer public transport, the option is less direct. You can take a bus from Varna to the nearby city of Kavarna, and from there, a taxi to Playa de Rusalka. However, bus frequency may be limited, and the taxi from Kavarna could be a bit expensive. For those seeking maximum comfort, some resorts in the area also offer private airport transfer services. The exact GPS coordinates for the beach area are approximately 43.4005° N latitude and 28.5660° E longitude, which will facilitate navigation if you use your own vehicle or a taxi service. Within the Rusalka tourist complex, you will find ample and secure Parking, which is a great advantage if you arrive by car. Although there may be a minimal presence of algae at certain times of the year, in general, the Rusalka beaches are kept clean and well-maintained, ensuring a pleasant experience for all visitors seeking the beauty of the Bulgarian beaches.
