How to Get to Playa de Aheloy

Getting to Playa de Aheloy is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination for all types of travelers. We always value ease of access, especially when traveling with family or seeking a hassle-free getaway. The strategic location of Aheloy in the Burgas province, Bulgaria, works in its favor.

By Plane

The nearest and most convenient airport is Burgas Airport (BOJ), located about 20-25 kilometers away. This airport receives flights from numerous European cities, especially during the peak summer season. Once there, you have several options to reach the beach:

• Taxi: This is the fastest and most comfortable option, with a journey usually taking between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Prices are reasonable, but we always advise agreeing on the fare before starting the trip.
• Car Rental: If you prefer the freedom to explore the region, renting a car at the airport is an excellent idea. The road is good and the journey to Aheloy is direct. It will also allow you to easily visit nearby villages and attractions.
• Public Transport: There are bus lines connecting Burgas Airport with the central bus station in Burgas, and from there, you can take another bus to Aheloy. This is the most economical option, although it requires more time and transfers.

By Car

If you are traveling from other cities in Bulgaria or neighboring countries, Playa de Aheloy is accessible via the main road network. Highway 9 (E87), which runs along the Black Sea coast, passes very close to Aheloy, facilitating access. The village is well signposted, and finding the beach is intuitive.

By Bus

From the central bus station in Burgas, there are regular services connecting to Aheloy. The buses are comfortable and offer an economical way to get there if you don't have your own vehicle. It is a good option for those seeking a relaxed and unhurried journey.

The Sand

The sand at Playa de Aheloy is mostly fine, with a soft golden hue that becomes more intense under the sun. It is very pleasant to the touch, perfect for walking barefoot, lying down to sunbathe, or, for the little ones, for building elaborate castles and figures. You won't find large pebbles or rocks in the main bathing area, which contributes to a comfortable and safe experience. The cleanliness of the sand is generally good, showing care from the local community.

The Water

The waters of the Black Sea at Playa de Aheloy are known for their calmness and shallowness near the shore, making them exceptionally safe for children and less experienced swimmers. We always emphasize the importance of calm waters for families, and Aheloy more than meets this expectation.
