How to get to Playa del Somorrostro

Accessibility is one of the great strengths of Playa del Somorrostro. Its privileged location, very close to the center of Barcelona, makes it very easy to reach by various means of transport.

By public transport

• Metro: The L4 (yellow) line is your best ally. The closest stops are Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica and Bogatell. From both, the beach is a short 10-15 minute walk away. It's a comfortable and efficient option, especially if we're coming from other parts of the city.
• Bus: Several bus lines have stops near the beach. Some of the most useful include lines V27, V21, H16 and 47. Checking specific routes will help us find the one that best suits our starting point.
• Tram: The T4 tram line also leaves us nearby, at the Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica stop, sharing proximity with the metro.

By bicycle

Barcelona is a very bike-friendly city, and Playa del Somorrostro is no exception. It has bike lanes that connect us directly to the seafront. Furthermore, there are numerous Bicing stations (the city's bike-sharing service) in the surrounding area. It's a fantastic way to get there, enjoying the coastal landscape and pleasant climate.

By car

Although we don't recommend the car as a first option due to traffic restrictions in central Barcelona and the difficulty of parking, there are paid parking lots nearby, especially in the Port Olímpic area. It's important to consider that on-street parking is scarce and usually paid (green or blue zone).

On foot

If we are in the center of Barcelona, a walk to the beach can be an excellent way to get to know the city. From the Gothic Quarter or El Born, for example, we can reach it in about 20-30 minutes, enjoying the city's architecture and atmosphere.

The sand and the water

Playa del Somorrostro welcomes us with fine, golden sand, characteristic of Barcelona's beaches. It's the kind of sand that invites you to take off your shoes, build sandcastles with the little ones, or simply lay out a towel and enjoy the sun. Its texture is pleasant to the touch, making it perfect for walking along the shore or for children to play in total comfort.

As for the water, we find calm and shallow waters near the shore, ideal for bathing. The Mediterranean here shows its most peaceful side, making it an excellent choice for families with children and for those seeking a relaxing swim without big waves. The water quality is usually good and is subject to regular checks, which gives us peace of mind when enjoying a dip. The combination of fine sand and serene waters creates a perfect environment for enjoying a beach day in the city.

• Showers and foot showers: We'll find multiple points to rinse off the sand before heading home or to our accommodation.
• Bathrooms/WCs: There are clean, well-maintained public toilets, accessible to all.
• Sunbed and umbrella rental: If we prefer not to carry our own equipment, we can rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds to relax under the sun.

• Parking: Although there is no parking directly on the sand, in the immediate vicinity, especially in the Port Olímpic area, there are paid underground car parks where you can leave your car.

For our safety and accessibility

• Lifeguards: During the bathing season, the beach has a lifeguard and surveillance service, with watchtowers and qualified personnel who look after our safety. This is an aspect that gives us great peace of mind.
• Full Accessibility: Playa del Somorrostro is adapted for people with reduced mobility. It has wooden walkways that reach the sand, adapted showers and foot showers, and also a bathing assistance service for people with disabilities, including amphibious chairs, during the high season. This makes it one of the most inclusive beaches in Barcelona.
