How to Get to Playa de Vilassar

Getting to Playa de Vilassar is surprisingly easy, making it a fantastic option for both nearby residents and those coming from Barcelona or other provinces. We always recommend public transport, especially the train, as it's a comfortable and eco-friendly way to reach this coastal paradise.

By Train

The R1 line of Rodalies de Catalunya drops us off directly at Vilassar de Mar station, which is just a few meters from the beach. It's a pleasant journey that allows us to enjoy the views of the Catalan coast. From the station, we just need to cross the N-II via the designated underground passages and, in a matter of minutes, we'll be stepping onto the sand. It's impossible to get lost!

By Car

If we prefer to come by car, the C-32 motorway (exit 97, Vilassar de Mar) is the fastest option. We can also choose the N-II road, which runs along the entire Maresme coast and offers a more leisurely landscape. Once in Vilassar de Mar, we'll find several parking areas, both paid (blue zone) and some free ones, although the latter tend to fill up quickly in high season. Our recommendation is to arrive early to secure a good spot.

By Bus

Several interurban bus lines connect Vilassar de Mar with nearby towns and with Barcelona itself, offering another alternative for those without a car or who prefer not to use the train. The stops are usually well connected to the town center and, therefore, to the beach.

The Sand and Water

One of the features that most attracts us to Playa de Vilassar is its sand. It's fine and golden sand, incredibly pleasant to the touch, inviting us to walk barefoot, build sandcastles with the little ones, or simply spread out a towel and let the sun caress us. It's not a pebble or rocky beach, but pure, soft sand, making it ideal for all ages.

The Mediterranean waters in this area are generally calm and of excellent quality, which has often earned it the Blue Flag distinction. We love diving into its crystal-clear waters, which usually have a very pleasant temperature during the summer months. Furthermore, the entry into the sea is gentle and gradual, without significant drops, making it a safe place for children to play and swim freely, always under our supervision, of course.

Playa de Vilassar is very well equipped, considering the comfort and enjoyment of all its visitors. We highly value that an urban beach offers such a complete range of services:

• Showers and Toilets/WCs: Essential for freshening up after a swim or for maintaining hygiene. We find them distributed along the beach and in good condition.
• Chiringuitos: Several chiringuitos dot the sand, offering us everything from a cold drink or an ice cream to full meals with sea views. They are perfect for an informal lunch or for enjoying a cocktail at sunset. The atmosphere they generate is fantastic!
• Lifeguards: During the bathing season, we have a lifeguard service that watches over our safety. The watchtowers are strategically located and give us great peace of mind, especially when we go with children.
• Sunshades and Sun Loungers: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there is the possibility of renting sunshades and sun loungers, allowing us to relax comfortably without worries.
• Parking: As mentioned before, there are parking options nearby, which is an advantage if we opt for the car.
• Full Accessibility: The beach has wooden walkways that facilitate access to the sand for people with reduced mobility, as well as ramps and, on occasion, amphibious chairs and assistance staff at specific points. It's a detail we find fundamental so that everyone can enjoy the sea.
• Children's Area: In some sections, we find small play areas for the little ones, which perfectly complements a family beach day.
