How to Get to Playa de las Barcas

Getting to Playa de las Barcas is surprisingly easy, making it a very accessible destination for both local residents and visitors coming from Barcelona or other nearby points. We always recommend considering the different transport options to choose the one that best suits your preferences and needs, thus ensuring a stress-free start to your beach day.

By Public Transport

One of the most comfortable and sustainable ways to get there is by using the commuter train. The R1 line of Rodalies de Catalunya is your best ally. You should get off at the Montgat or Montgat Nord stop. From either of these stations, the beach is a short walk away, just a few minutes. It's a pleasant walk that will already let you feel the sea breeze and the coastal atmosphere. The train frequency is good, especially during the summer months, which greatly facilitates travel planning. Furthermore, the proximity of the station to the beach means you won't have to carry your beach gear for long.

If you prefer the bus, several interurban lines connect Montgat with neighboring towns and Barcelona. We advise you to check the routes and schedules of public transport companies, such as TUSGSAL, as some lines have stops very close to the beach area. It's an excellent option if you are in towns like Badalona or El Masnou and don't want to use the train.

By Car

If you choose to come by car, Playa de las Barcas is also very accessible. Montgat is well connected by road, mainly via the N-II and the C-31. From Barcelona, the journey is short, about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. You should take the exit towards Montgat. Once in the municipality, you will find various parking areas. While there isn't a huge parking lot right on the sand, there are usually spaces on the surrounding streets and near the promenade, although, as in any busy coastal area, during high season it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot. We suggest arriving early, especially on weekends, to secure a good place. Some parking areas may be paid (blue zone), so it's important to pay attention to the signage. The ease of access by car makes it very convenient for those traveling with a lot of equipment, such as beach chairs, coolers, or toys for the children.
