How to get to Playa de la Mar Bella

Getting to Playa de la Mar Bella is surprisingly easy, given its strategic location within the city of Barcelona. We always recommend opting for public transport, as it's the most comfortable and sustainable option for getting around the metropolis.

By Metro

Line 4 (yellow) is your best ally. The closest stations are Selva de Mar or El Maresme | Fòrum. From either of them, a 10-15 minute walk will take you directly to the sand. It's a pleasant journey that will allow you to soak up the coastal atmosphere as you approach.

By Bus

Several bus lines have stops near the beach. Some of the most useful are H16, V27, 7, and 136. Checking the schedules and routes on the TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) website will help you plan your trip precisely. It's an excellent option if you're staying in an area with a good direct connection.

By Tram

The T4 tram line also brings you close to Playa de la Mar Bella. The Selva de Mar stop is the most convenient, from where you can walk to the beach in a few minutes. It's a different and scenic way to arrive, especially if you're coming from Diagonal Mar or Parc del Fòrum.

By Bicycle

Barcelona is a very bike-friendly city, and Playa de la Mar Bella is no exception. The promenade connects much of the coastline, offering a safe and well-signposted bike lane. It's a fantastic option for those who enjoy sports and want to get to the beach actively. There are bicycle parking areas available in the zone.

By Car and Parking

While it's not the most recommended option due to traffic and parking difficulty, it is possible to arrive by car. However, there is no direct parking at the beach. You'll need to look for paid parking in the vicinity, such as those near the Diagonal Mar shopping center or on the adjacent streets of Poblenou. Keep in mind that during high season it can be a challenge to find free spaces and prices can be high. We always advise leaving the car at home or at your accommodation and using public transport for a more relaxed experience.

The sand and the water

When we talk about Playa de la Mar Bella, we cannot overlook the sensory experience offered by its sand and waters. For us, these are key elements that define the quality of an urban beach, and in this case, Mar Bella more than meets the expectations of most bathers.

The Sand

We are dealing with a beach of fine, golden sand, typical of Barcelona's beaches. Walking barefoot, it feels soft and pleasant underfoot, inviting long walks along the shore or simply spreading out a towel and enjoying the sun. The cleanliness of the sand is a priority for the city council, and this is noticeable. Daily maintenance work is carried out to ensure the beach is in optimal condition, free of debris, and ready to welcome bathers.

It's ideal sand for building sandcastles with the little ones (although this beach is less family-oriented due to its naturist character, some do visit with children), or simply for relaxing and feeling the warmth of the sun. The beach's expanse means that, even on busier days, you can find a spot to enjoy without feeling crowded.

The Water

The waters of Playa de la Mar Bella are, in general, clean and clear, especially on calm days. As an urban beach, its quality is constantly monitored, and it often flies the Blue Flag, a distinction that certifies environmental and service excellence. This gives us great peace of mind when taking a dip.

The sea here is usually calm with moderate waves, making it suitable for swimming for most people. The slope for entering the water is gentle, which facilitates access, although you should always pay attention to lifeguard instructions, especially if there are children or people with reduced mobility (for the latter, the beach has adapted services, as we will see later).

The water temperature is pleasant during the summer months, reaching its maximum comfort in July and August. Outside of high season, swimming is still possible for the bravest, and the beach becomes a perfect place for walking and enjoying the tranquility of the Mediterranean sea.
