From the moment we set foot on its fine sand, we understand why it's one of the most celebrated beach destinations in the Balearic Islands.

How to Get to Playa de Ses Salines

Getting to Playa de Ses Salines is relatively easy, and the options vary to suit every type of traveler. We always recommend planning ahead, especially during high season, to avoid setbacks.

By Car or Motorbike

The most comfortable and flexible option is, without a doubt, by car or motorbike. From Ibiza town, the journey takes approximately 10-15 minutes. We must take the road towards Sant Jordi and then follow the signs to Ses Salines. There are several paid parking lots just before reaching the beach, with rates usually ranging between 4 and 6 euros per day. While it may seem like an additional cost, it guarantees us a space and saves us from circling around looking for parking, which is almost impossible during high season outside the designated areas.

By Bus

For those who prefer a more economical and sustainable option, the bus is an excellent alternative. During the summer months, there are regular lines connecting Ibiza town and Sant Jordi with Playa de Ses Salines. The frequency is good and drops us off just a few meters from the sand, making it a very practical means of transport if we don't want to worry about parking.

By Bicycle

If we are cycling enthusiasts, getting to Playa de Ses Salines by bicycle is a fantastic experience. The route is mostly flat and passes through beautiful landscapes, including the salt ponds of the natural park, where we can observe flamingos at certain times of the year. It's a way to enjoy the surroundings before immersing ourselves in the waters of the beach.

The Sand

We are faced with one of the finest and whitest sands of all the beaches in the Balearic Islands. It is so soft to the touch that it invites us to walk barefoot along the entire shoreline. Its light, almost pearly color contributes to the incredible brightness of the beach and enhances the turquoise tone of the sea. It's the kind of sand that sticks slightly to the skin, but shakes off easily, leaving us with a feeling of cleanliness and freshness.

The Water

The waters of Playa de Ses Salines are, simply, spectacular. They are famous for their transparency and for that turquoise blue color that looks like it's from a postcard. The clarity is such that we can see the seabed with astonishing ease, even at several meters depth. This is largely due to the presence of Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows, a marine plant that is fundamental to the Mediterranean ecosystem and acts as a natural filter. The water is usually calm, especially on windless days, making it perfect for swimming and water activities. The entrance to the sea is gentle and gradual, ideal for everyone.

• Beach bars and restaurants: Here we find some of the most famous and lively beach bars in Ibiza, such as the legendary Sa Trinxa, the Jockey Club, or Guarana. These establishments offer us everything from refreshing cocktails and chill-out music to exquisite Mediterranean cuisine dishes with sea views. They are perfect for lunch, dinner, or simply having a drink while enjoying the atmosphere.
• Sunbeds and umbrellas: During the beach day, we have the option to rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds. It's an excellent way to secure a prime spot and protect ourselves from the sun during the midday hours. The prices are usually standard for the area and the comfort they offer is well worth it.
• Showers and toilets/WC: The beach has public showers to rinse off the sand and salt after swimming, as well as toilet/WC facilities, essential for the comfort of all visitors. They are usually well-maintained, especially at the beach establishments.
• Lifeguard service: During the bathing season, the beach has lifeguard posts that watch over our safety. It gives us extra peace of mind knowing there is qualified personnel attentive to any eventuality.
• Parking: As already mentioned, there are extensive paid parking areas near the beach, which facilitates access if we arrive by private vehicle.
• Equipment rental: At some points, it's possible to rent equipment for light water sports, such as paddle surf or kayaks, allowing us to explore the coast from another perspective.
