Today we're exploring Playa de Canyamel, a hidden gem in the municipality of Capdepera, on the east coast of the Balearic Islands. How to Get to Playa de Canyamel

Getting to Playa de Canyamel is relatively easy, and the route itself is part of the adventure, offering us spectacular views of the Mallorcan landscape. Located in the northeast of Mallorca, within the municipal area of Capdepera, Canyamel is accessible by road and is well signposted from nearby towns.

• By car: This is the most comfortable option and the one we recommend for exploring the area freely. From Palma, the journey takes approximately one hour and ten minutes, following the Ma-15 towards Manacor and then towards Artà and Capdepera, with well-marked turn-offs towards Canyamel. The beach has parking areas, some paid and others free, especially if we arrive early. During the high season, finding a spot can be a challenge, so we advise arriving early.
• By bus: There are bus lines connecting Canyamel with other points on the island, such as Artà, Cala Ratjada, or Manacor, especially during the summer months. It's a good alternative if you prefer not to drive or if you want to enjoy a beach day without worrying about parking. The stops are usually very close to the beach, making access easy.
• By bicycle: For cycling enthusiasts, the area offers beautiful routes leading to Canyamel. It's an ecological and healthy way to enjoy the landscape, although we only recommend it if you are staying in the immediate surroundings.

The Sand and Water

If there's something we absolutely love about Playa de Canyamel, it's the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters. The sand here is a soft golden color, fine and delicate to the touch, perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply laying out a towel and enjoying the sun. You won't find pebbles or annoying rocks on most of the shore, making it very comfortable and safe.

As for the water, it's simply spectacular. We are faced with crystal-clear waters that vary between turquoise and deep blue tones, inviting us to dive in from the first moment. The entrance to the sea is very gentle and gradual, which means we can go quite far out without the water covering us excessively. This characteristic is a huge plus, especially if we are traveling with small children, as they can play safely and peacefully at the water's edge. The absence of strong currents and the natural protection of the bay contribute to the sea generally being calm, like a true natural swimming pool. It's the perfect place for a refreshing swim or for snorkeling to discover the marine life of the Capdepera coast.

• Sunbed and Umbrella Rental: If you don't want to carry your own equipment, you can rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds directly on the beach. It's an excellent option for relaxing in the sun.
• Beach Bars (Chiringuitos) and Restaurants: On the beach and in its immediate surroundings, you'll find a good selection of beach bars where you can have a drink, an ice cream, or a snack, as well as restaurants with options for all tastes, from local cuisine to international dishes.
