How to Get to Playa de Cala Nova

Getting to Playa de Cala Nova is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination for most visitors to the island. From Santa Eulalia, the journey is short and pleasant. You can choose from several options, depending on your preferences and where you're staying.

By Car

For us, the car is the most comfortable and flexible option for getting to Cala Nova. From Santa Eulalia, you should take the road towards Es Canar and then follow the signs to the beach. The journey takes just 10-15 minutes. Near the beach, you'll find several parking areas. Some are paid, especially in high season, but there are also free parking options on nearby streets or on slightly more remote dirt tracks. Our recommendation is to arrive early during the summer months to secure a good spot, as the beach is quite popular.

By Public Transport

If you prefer not to drive, there are bus options connecting Santa Eulalia and other nearby towns with Es Canar, which is a short walk from Playa de Cala Nova. From Es Canar, you can take a pleasant 15-20 minute walk along a coastal path that will lead you directly to the beach. It's a very nice walk with beautiful views of the coastline. There are also taxi or ride-hailing services that can drop you off right at the beach entrance.

On Foot or by Bicycle

For the more active, Playa de Cala Nova is accessible on foot or by bicycle from Es Canar and even from closer areas of Santa Eulalia if you enjoy walking. There are coastal routes and trails offering spectacular views and the chance to enjoy the Mediterranean landscape. It's a fantastic way to start the day before a refreshing dip.

When we think of Playa de Cala Nova, the first thing that comes to mind is the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters. It's a sensory experience that envelops us from the moment we set foot on it.

The Sand

The sand at Cala Nova is predominantly fine and of an attractive golden color. It's a delight to walk barefoot on it, feel its softness underfoot, and watch how the sun makes it shine. In some spots, especially near the rocky outcrops that divide the beach, you might find some small areas with pebbles or shells, but overall, it's a continuous and very comfortable sandy area for spreading out a towel and enjoying the sun. The width of the beach means that, even on busier days, we don't feel crowded, something we greatly appreciate.

The Water

The waters of Playa de Cala Nova are a true spectacle. They are crystal clear, of an intense turquoise color that fades into deeper blues as you go further out. The transparency is such that, even without snorkeling gear, we can see the seabed and the small fish swimming near the shore. The quality of its waters is endorsed by the Blue Flag, a distinction that gives us the peace of mind of knowing we're in a well-maintained and safe environment. Generally, the waters are calm, making them ideal for swimming for both children and adults. However, on days with a Levante wind, there can be some waves, which sometimes adds a touch of fun for those who enjoy them. The water temperature is very pleasant during the summer months, inviting long swims and refreshing dips from the Ibizan heat.
