How to Get to Caló Blanc

Getting to Caló Blanc is part of the adventure and, although not complicated, requires a bit of attention, especially in high season. This hidden gem is located on the south coast of Menorca, very close to the Biniancolla and Binibeca residential areas, within the municipal area of Sant Lluís.

By Car

The most common option for reaching most Menorcan beaches is by car. From Mahón (Maó), the capital, the journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. We must take the ME-12 road towards Sant Lluís and, once there, follow the signs to the southern coves, such as Binibeca or Biniancolla. You need to pay attention to the signs, as Caló Blanc is not always as well signposted as other larger beaches. The best is to look for Calle de Llevant in the Biniancolla residential area or simply follow the GPS to Caló Blanc.

Parking and Access

Parking is one of the most delicate points of the visit to Caló Blanc. Given the cove's popularity and its location in a residential area, there is no official, large parking lot. Most visitors park on the sides of nearby streets, especially on Calle de Llevant. In high season (July and August), finding a spot can be an odyssey, so we recommend going early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid crowds. Once parked, access to the cove is via some stairs or a dirt path, not suitable for people with reduced mobility or baby strollers.

Public Transport

Although less frequent, it is possible to reach the vicinity of Caló Blanc by public transport from Mahón or Sant Lluís, taking a bus that goes to Binibeca or Biniancolla. However, the bus stop does not leave you directly at the cove, and you will still have to walk a considerable distance on foot through the residential area. Therefore, if we seek comfort and flexibility, the car remains the best option.

The color is what impresses the most: a palette of blues and turquoises that remind us of Caribbean beaches. This clarity is partly due to the presence of Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows nearby, which act as a natural filter, and to the protection of the cove, which shelters it from strong currents. They are calm and shallow waters, ideal for bathing and enjoyment for the whole family.

Seabed Characteristics

The seabed of Caló Blanc is a mix of sand and rock. Right at the shore, sand predominates, creating a gentle entry into the sea. However, as we go further in or move towards the sides of the cove, we will find submerged rock formations. These rocks, covered in algae, are home to a varied marine life, making Caló Blanc an excellent place to practice snorkeling.
