How to Get to Cala Turqueta

Getting to Cala Turqueta is part of the adventure and charm of visiting it. Although its beauty is undeniable, its semi-virgin location means it's not as accessible as other urban beaches, and that, for us, is precisely what makes it special. The most common way to get there is by car. From Ciutadella, we must take the road to Sant Joan de Missa and follow the signs to the southern beaches, specifically towards Cala Turqueta. It's a well-signposted route, although in high season, especially in July and August, access to the parking lots of Menorca's most popular beaches, including Turqueta, usually closes when they reach maximum capacity to preserve the environment and avoid overcrowding. Therefore, we always recommend going early in the morning to secure our spot and enjoy the cove more peacefully.

Once we reach the parking lot, which in high season is usually paid, a walk awaits us. It's not an excessively long or complicated path, but it's important to wear comfortable shoes. From the parking lot, there's a well-marked trail that winds through the pine forest for about 10-15 minutes. This walk, besides being an opportunity to stretch our legs and breathe fresh air, offers us previews of the coastline that hint at the wonder awaiting us. For those who prefer to avoid the car, especially in high season, there are bus services from Ciutadella to nearby beaches like Cala Galdana, from where you could connect via the Camí de Cavalls to reach Turqueta, although this option involves a considerably longer walk. Our recommendation is always to check the local public transport schedules and frequencies if we choose this route. Another alternative, if we're looking for a different experience, is to arrive by boat, anchoring in its waters and enjoying the cove from a unique perspective, which allows us to appreciate its majesty from the sea.

The Sand and the Water

The sand is immaculately white, incredibly fine and soft to the touch, a delight to walk on barefoot. Parking
