Although it is known and visited, especially in high season, Cala Salada has managed to maintain its rustic charm and virgin beauty, becoming an essential destination for those seeking a genuine beach experience on the white island. Its proximity to San Antonio makes it accessible, but its slightly secluded location guarantees that feeling of discovery.

How to Get to Cala Salada

Getting to Cala Salada is part of the adventure and requires some planning, especially if you visit during the summer months. The beach is located about 5 kilometers north of San Antonio, making it relatively easy to reach, but with certain peculiarities we must consider.

Car Access and Restrictions

While it is possible to arrive by car, during the high season (generally from June to September), road access is restricted for private vehicles from a certain point. This measure is implemented to preserve the natural environment of the cove and prevent overcrowding of cars in its limited parking lot. We appreciate these initiatives, as they help maintain the beauty of the place.

• Parking: There is a parking lot, but it is small and fills up quickly. When restrictions are active, only authorized vehicles (residents, taxis, buses) are allowed to pass. If we arrive by car outside of high season or very early in the morning, it is possible to find a spot.
• Alternative Parking: If restrictions are active, we will have to park in a designated overflow parking area at the entrance to San Antonio and use public transport.

Public Transport and Other Options

The most comfortable and ecological way to get to Cala Salada in summer is by using the available public transport:

• Bus: During the high season, a shuttle bus service connects San Antonio with the cove. It is a very practical and economical option that allows us not to worry about parking. The stops are usually well signposted in San Antonio.
• Taxi: Another comfortable, though more expensive, option is to take a taxi from San Antonio. It will drop us off right at the entrance to the cove.
• Ferry: For a more picturesque experience, we can take a small ferry or water taxi from the port of San Antonio. This sea journey offers us wonderful views of the coast and is a charming way to reach the beach. It is one of our favorite ways to approach the cove.
• Motorbike or Bicycle: For lovers of two wheels, access by motorbike or bicycle is an excellent alternative, although we must always respect traffic signs and restrictions.

The Sand and the Water

The heart of Cala Salada lies in the exceptional quality of its sand and the purity of its waters. These two elements are what make it a magnet for swimmers and nature lovers.

Sand that Invites Rest

The sand at Cala Salada is predominantly fine and golden, very pleasant to the touch. Walking barefoot, we feel its softness under our feet, making it perfect for laying out a towel and enjoying a day in the sun. Unlike other Ibizan coves with a predominance of pebbles or rocks, here the sand is the protagonist in the main bathing area. At the ends and on the paths connecting to Cala Saladeta, we will find some rocky areas, ideal for exploring or finding a more intimate spot.

Crystal-Clear, Dreamlike Waters

The waters of Cala Salada are, without exaggeration, spectacular. Their transparency is astonishing, allowing us to see the seabed with total clarity even at several meters depth. The color ranges from a vibrant turquoise blue near the shore to deeper shades of navy blue as we move away. This clarity is largely due to the presence of Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows on the bottom, a marine plant that acts as a natural filter and is vital to the Mediterranean ecosystem.

• Calm and Tranquility: The waters are usually very calm, protected from currents by the cliffs flanking the cove. This makes it an ideal place for safe swimming, even for the youngest family members.
• Pleasant Temperature: During the summer months, the water temperature is very pleasant, inviting long swims and leisurely enjoyment.
• Snorkeling and Diving: The exceptional visibility and richness of marine life make Cala Salada a fantastic place for snorkeling and diving. We can observe a variety of fish, sea urchins, and other marine creatures among the rocks and seagrass. It's an underwater spectacle that we never tire of.
