Introduction
Hello fellow travelers! Today we embark on an imaginary journey to one of those little gems hidden along the north coast of Mallorca: the wonderful Cala Molins. Located in the charming and tranquil village of Cala Sant Vicenç, within the municipality of Pollença, this cove is a true haven of peace that has stolen our hearts. If you're looking for a destination where the turquoise blue of the Mediterranean meets fine golden sand, and where the sea breeze invites you to completely disconnect, you've come to the right place.
Cala Molins is not just a beach; it's an experience. It's the perfect place for those who value natural beauty, clean waters, and the convenience of having services at hand, without falling into overcrowding. We, as experts in Balearic beaches, can assure you that this cove is a favorite destination for families, couples, and anyone seeking a respite from the daily hustle and bustle. Its charm lies in its size, its sheltered location, and the quality of its waters, which year after year earn it the prestigious Blue Flag recognition.
How to Get to Cala Molins
Getting to Cala Molins is relatively straightforward, although as with many places on the Mallorcan coast, a car is usually the most comfortable option for most visitors. If you're coming from Palma, you should take the Ma-13 towards Alcúdia and then turn off towards Pollença and, finally, towards Cala Sant Vicenç. The journey from Palma takes approximately 45-50 minutes.
By Car
Once in Cala Sant Vicenç, the cove is well signposted. You will find parking on the surrounding streets, although during the summer months it can be a challenge to find a free spot, especially around midday. We recommend arriving early in the morning to secure a good spot. There are public parking areas, some paid, which facilitate access. From the parking, the beach is just a few meters away, with easy and comfortable access for most people.
By Public Transport
It is also possible to get there by public transport, although with less frequency. Bus line 321 connects Pollença and Port de Pollença with Cala Sant Vicenç. From Palma, you would need to take a bus to Pollença or Port de Pollença and transfer. While it is a more sustainable option, it requires more planning and patience. We always advocate for the option that best suits your comfort and flexibility needs.
The Sand and Water
The main calling card of Cala Molins is, without a doubt, its sand and waters. The sand is fine and golden, incredibly pleasant to the touch, perfect for laying out a towel and enjoying the sun or for the little ones to build sandcastles. The predominant type of seabed is sand, which makes entering the sea smooth and gradual, without unpleasant surprises of rocks or pebbles.
As for the water, get ready for a spectacle of nature! The waters of Cala Molins are of astonishing clarity, with shades ranging from the most vibrant turquoise blue to emerald. They are also very calm waters, protected from currents and waves by the configuration of the cove. This characteristic makes them an ideal place for swimming, even for the youngest children. The underwater visibility is excellent, inviting snorkeling to discover the marine life that inhabits its nearby rocks.
Services and Facilities
One of the strong points of Cala Molins is the good range of services it offers, which contributes to a comfortable and safe beach experience for all its visitors. Here we won't lack anything to spend a full day under the Mallorcan sun:
- Showers and Toilets/WC: Available and well-maintained, something essential for comfort after a swim in the sea.
- Parking: As mentioned, there are parking options nearby, although it can be busy in high season.
- Chiringuitos and Restaurants: Several establishments right on the beach or very close by offer everything from refreshing drinks and ice creams to full meals. You can enjoy a good lunch with sea views without having to go far.
- Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has a lifeguard service, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if we are with children. Safety is always a priority.
- Sunbeds and Umbrellas: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there is the possibility to rent umbrellas and sunbeds, guaranteeing a day of total relaxation and well sheltered from the sun.
- Accessibility: Although it does not have full universal accessibility (special ramps for wheelchairs to the water, for example), the general access to the beach is relatively easy, with paved areas that facilitate transit.
