How to Get to Cala en Tugores

Getting to Cala en Tugores beach is part of the adventure and charm that surrounds it. Do not expect an easy and direct access; precisely the difficulty of reaching it is what helps preserve its virgin state and keep the crowds at bay. The most common way to access this cove is on foot, through a pleasant hike that allows us to appreciate the Mediterranean coastal landscape in all its splendor.

There are mainly two routes to consider to get to Cala en Tugores:

• ### From Cap Salines Lighthouse

This is perhaps the most popular and scenic route. We must drive to Cap Salines Lighthouse, at the southern tip of the island, which marks the southernmost point of Mallorca. There you will find a small parking area to leave your vehicle. From the lighthouse, the hike begins by following the coastal path westward. The path is flat and relatively easy, skirting the coast and offering spectacular views of the sea and the island of Cabrera on the horizon. The duration of this hike is approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on our pace. It is important to wear comfortable and suitable footwear for walking on uneven terrain, as well as enough water, as there are no resupply points along the way.

• ### From Es Caragol Beach

Another option is to start the hike from Es Caragol Beach, which itself also requires pedestrian access. If we choose this route, we can park near the entrance to Es Caragol (reached by a rural road from the Ses Salines road to the lighthouse) and walk along the coast eastward. This route is somewhat longer, possibly extending to an hour or more, but equally rewarding for the beauty of the landscape. Both options immerse us in an almost untouched natural environment, with dunes, low vegetation, and the constant sound of the waves as the only soundtrack. We remind you that, as it is a protected natural area, it is essential to respect the environment, not leave trash, and follow the marked trails.

The Sand and the Water

Once we have completed the hike and Cala en Tugores beach reveals itself before our eyes, the reward is immediate and breathtaking. The first thing that catches our attention is the quality of its sand. Here you will not find pebbles or annoying rocks, but fine sand of an immaculate white, almost like talcum powder.
