How to get to Cala Alcaufar

Getting to Cala Alcaufar is relatively straightforward, which adds to its appeal, especially when traveling with family. If we come from Mahón, the capital of Menorca, we will take the Me-8 road towards Sant Lluís. Once in Sant Lluís, we will find clear signs guiding us towards the coast, specifically towards Alcaufar. The journey from Mahón is just 15-20 minutes by car, making it very accessible for a day trip or as a base to explore the area.

Parking at Cala Alcaufar

As we approach the cove, we will see that the village of Alcaufar has some parking areas, although in the high season months (July and August) they can fill up quickly. Our recommendation is to arrive early in the morning to secure a good spot, or consider using public transport if we are staying nearby. The village streets are narrow and designed for strolling, so it's preferable to leave the car in the designated areas and enjoy a short walk to the sand. The ease of access is one of the great advantages of this Sant Lluís beach.

The sand and the water

When stepping onto Cala Alcaufar, the first thing we notice is its sand. It is fine and golden, very pleasant underfoot, perfect for building sandcastles or simply lying down and feeling the warmth of the Menorcan sun. The cove is very well protected from waves by the cliffs that flank it, which means the sea here is almost always a millpond.
