How to Get to Playa de Toro

Getting to Playa de Toro is relatively easy, making it a very accessible destination for all types of visitors. If we are coming from the center of Llanes, the journey is very short, just a ten or fifteen-minute walk. We can follow the famous Paseo de San Pedro, which will offer us spectacular views of the coastline and the beach itself as we approach. It is a pleasant and highly recommended walk, perfect for whetting our appetite before diving into its waters.

If we prefer to go by car, the beach has parking areas nearby. However, during the high season, especially in July and August, the parking lot can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early to secure a spot. From Llanes, we just need to follow the signs towards the east coast, and the signage for Playa de Toro is quite clear. The ease of access is one of its strong points, allowing us to enjoy this paradise without complications.

The Sand and Water

The sand at Playa de Toro is fine and golden in tone, very pleasant to the touch, although it is true that it mixes with small pebbles and fragments of shells deposited by the sea. This mix gives it a natural and authentic character. But, as we have already mentioned, what really defines its ground are the impressive rock formations that dot the entire sandy area. These rocks, polished by time and waves, invite exploration, letting children play hide-and-seek among them or adults find the best angle for a photograph.

As for the water, we encounter the characteristic waters of the Cantabrian Sea: crystal clear and, in summer, with a refreshing temperature that invites us for a swim. The waters of Playa de Toro are usually quite calm, especially at low tide, as the rock formations act as a kind of natural barrier, mitigating the impact of the waves. This makes it a safe and pleasant beach for swimming, ideal for those seeking a relaxing dip. The clarity of the water, along with the rocky bottom in some areas, allows us to observe small fish and marine life, adding an extra charm to our visit.

Playa de Toro is a beach that, despite its natural uniqueness, does not forgo offering a good variety of services for the comfort of its visitors. We highly value finding these facilities, which make our stay more pleasant and carefree. Among the most important services, we highlight the presence of a Lifeguard team during the bathing season, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if we are with children.

It has Showers to rinse off the salt and sand after a swim, and we also have public Restrooms/WC, an essential service that is always appreciated. Near the beach, we find a Chiringuito where we can have a cool drink, a snack, or even enjoy a light meal with sea views, which perfectly complements a day at the beach. Furthermore, as already mentioned, there is Parking nearby, facilitating access for those coming by car. It is a well-equipped beach to enjoy a full day of sun and sea.

Best Time to Visit

Choosing the best time to visit Playa de Toro will depend a lot on what we are looking for in our experience. If our priority is swimming and fully enjoying the sun, the summer months, especially July and August, are the most suitable. During these months, the water temperature is more pleasant and the beach has all services operational, including lifeguards. However, it is also the busiest time, so the beach can be quite crowded.

For those who prefer tranquility, photography, or simply walking and admiring the landscape without crowds, spring and autumn are, without a doubt, the ideal seasons. During these periods, the climate in Asturias remains very pleasant, temperatures are mild, and the light is perfect for capturing the beauty of the rocks. Furthermore, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the beach almost exclusively, feeling the sea breeze and the sound of the waves with incomparable peace. Even in winter, if the day is sunny, a walk along Playa de Toro can be a magical experience, even if it's not for swimming.
