How to get to Playa de la Ñora

Getting to Playa de la Ñora is relatively easy, although we recommend planning the route, especially during high season. If we're coming from Gijón, the most common access is via the AS-247 road, following the signs to the beach. From Villaviciosa, the AS-256 will take us directly. The beach is located approximately 10-15 kilometers from Gijón, making it a perfect day trip from the city.

By car

It's the most comfortable and common option for most visitors. The beach has a paid parking lot, especially busy during the summer months. Our recommendation is to arrive early to secure a good spot, as spaces can run out quickly. The access roads are well signposted and offer very pleasant landscapes as we approach the coast.

By bus

There are bus lines connecting Gijón with the towns near the beach. However, the stop may not be right on the sand, which would involve a short walk. We advise checking the schedules and routes of the local public transport company (ALSA, for example) if this is our choice, to avoid surprises and plan the trip in advance.

By bicycle or walking

For nature and exercise lovers, Playa de la Ñora is accessible via coastal trails and cycling routes. This is, without a doubt, one of the most rewarding ways to get there, allowing us to fully enjoy the natural surroundings and the impressive views of the Cantabrian Sea before diving into its waters. It's an experience that, if the weather permits and we're in good shape, we highly recommend.

The sand and water

One of the biggest attractions of Playa de la Ñora is, certainly, its sand and the quality of its waters. We find ourselves before a sandy beach of fine sand with a characteristic golden color, inviting us to walk barefoot and build sandcastles with the little ones. It's a soft and pleasant-to-the-touch sand, perfect for laying out a towel and enjoying long hours of sun and relaxation.

The waters of Playa de la Ñora are known for their cleanliness and clarity, which has earned it the prestigious Blue Flag on numerous occasions. Diving into them is a delight; they are usually calm, although, as in the entire Cantabrian Sea, it's important to be aware of currents and tides. The mouth of the Ñora river adds a touch of freshness and, sometimes, a slight temperature difference in certain areas, creating a fascinating ecosystem. At low tide, the pools that form in the rocks are a paradise for children and the curious, inviting us to explore the marine life hidden within them.

• Parking: As we already mentioned, there is a parking lot (paid during high season) that facilitates access to the beach.
• Chiringuitos: Several establishments right on the beach or very close by offer us the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal with sea views. They are perfect for taking a break and recharging.
• Children's Play Area: For families with children, the presence of a playground near the sand is a plus we always appreciate, allowing the little ones to have fun safely.
