Its location in the municipality of Gijón makes it accessible and comfortable, yet it retains its own character, away from the crowds of the more central beaches. It's a modest-sized sandy beach, about 270 meters long, framed by cliffs that give it a unique personality and a sheltered atmosphere. Its waters, generally calm and crystal-clear, invite swimming and contemplation, while the mix of sand and pebbles on its shore gives it a distinctive texture and color. How to Get to Playa de Estaño

Getting to Playa de Estaño is relatively easy, which adds to its appeal, especially for those who don't want to complicate their travel. Being located in the municipality of Gijón, the access infrastructure is quite good. We always recommend planning the route in advance, although in this case, the directions are usually clear.

By Car

For us, the car is the most comfortable option to get to Estaño, as it offers flexibility and the possibility to bring everything needed for a day at the beach. From the center of Gijón, the journey is short, about 10-15 minutes by car, depending on traffic. We must take the AS-247 road heading east, towards the rural parishes of the area, such as Somió or Deva. The beach is well signposted once we approach the Estaño or La Ñora area, which is the adjacent and better-known beach. We will see signs that will guide us directly to the parking lot.

The Parking is one of the most valued services at this beach. Although it's not a huge parking lot, there is usually enough space, especially if we don't visit the beach during the peak hours of an August weekend. It's not a paid parking lot, which is always a plus. From the parking lot, access to the sand is via stairs or a ramp, making it accessible for most, although it is not fully adapted for people with reduced mobility, as we have already mentioned.

By Public Transport

If we prefer not to use a car, public transport is a viable alternative. The Gijón urban bus company (EMTUSA) has lines that reach the vicinity of the beach. Line 14 (Sotiello-Infanzón) is one of the options that brings us close to the Estaño area. We will need to get off at the nearest stop and walk a few minutes to the beach. This bus journey allows us to enjoy the coastal landscape without worrying about parking, which is an advantage, especially in high season. By Bicycle or on Foot

For the more athletic or those who enjoy a quiet walk, Playa de Estaño is accessible via the Gijón Coastal Path. This path, which runs parallel to the coast, offers us spectacular views and is a fantastic way to get to the beach while enjoying the outdoors. From the center of Gijón, the bike ride can take about 30-40 minutes, and on foot, approximately an hour or more, depending on our pace. It's an option we highly recommend if time allows, as it completely immerses us in the natural surroundings and prepares us for a day of relaxation on the beach.
