One of the most popular and recommended routes is the one that starts from the charming village of Agua Amarga. From there, we can take a dirt track that leads us towards Cala del Plomo. It is important to consider that, although the track is passable by car, it is usually in variable condition and parking at the end is limited. Once we leave the car near Cala del Plomo, the real journey begins. From Cala del Plomo, a hike of approximately 20-30 minutes starts along a well-marked coastal trail, which gives us impressive views of the coastline. It is a relatively simple walk, but we recommend wearing comfortable and suitable footwear for walking on uneven terrain.

Access from Las Negras

Another option for the more adventurous is to access from Las Negras, although this route is considerably longer and more demanding. It involves a hike of several hours, passing by other coves and mountain trails. While it offers spectacular landscapes, we reserve it for experienced hikers. For most visitors who want to enjoy the beach, the option from Agua Amarga is the most practical and accessible.

Tips for the journey

• Footwear: It is essential to wear comfortable sneakers or trekking sandals. Forget high heels or beach flip-flops for the hike.
• Water and supplies: As we will see later, the cove lacks services. Bring enough water, some food and everything you might need to spend the day.
• Sun protection: The sun in Almería is intense. A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are your best allies.
• Respect for the environment: We are in a Natural Park. Do not leave trash, do not make fires and respect the local flora and fauna. The beauty of Cala de Enmedio depends on all of us.
