How to Get to Playa de Sardiñeiro

Getting to the Playa de Sardiñeiro is part of the adventure and charm of discovering this treasure. If we're coming from A Coruña or Santiago de Compostela, the most common route will take us along the AG-55 motorway to Carballo and then along the AC-552 towards Fisterra. Once we approach the final stretch towards Fisterra, we must watch for the signs that divert us towards the small and picturesque village of Sardiñeiro, from which the beach takes its name.

Access to the beach is relatively straightforward, although the secondary roads that lead directly to it can be narrow in some places, something very common in this area of the Costa da Morte. We recommend driving calmly and enjoying the rural landscape that surrounds us. We will find a small parking area, often informal and with limited spaces, right next to the beach or in its vicinity, allowing for comfortable and direct access to the sand. During the summer months, especially on weekends, it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot, so it's ideal to arrive early to secure our place.

Other services such as public toilets or umbrella and sunbed rentals are not common, reinforcing its profile as a more authentic and less crowded beach.

Best Time to Visit

The choice of the best time to visit the Playa de Sardiñeiro will depend a lot on what we are looking for in our getaway. We have found that each season has its own charm in this corner of the Fisterra beach.

• Summer (July and August): Undoubtedly, it's the most popular time to enjoy a swim. Temperatures are warmer, the lifeguard service is active, and the chiringuito is usually open. It's when the beach is most lively, but even then, it doesn't become overwhelming like other more famous beaches. It's ideal for families and for those seeking the classic beach day.
• Spring (April, May, and June): For us, spring is a fantastic time if we're looking for tranquility and to enjoy nature at its best. The days are longer, the landscape is green and flowery, and temperatures are pleasant for walking on the sand or sitting down to read. The water might be a bit cold for a prolonged swim, but the atmosphere is unbeatable for relaxation and photography. Plus, we avoid the summer crowds.
• Early Autumn (September and October): Autumn is another hidden gem. The crowds have disappeared, but the weather is usually still mild and sunny. The sea maintains a pleasant temperature.
