How to Get to Playa de Centroña

Getting to Playa de Centroña is relatively straightforward, and its privileged location in the Ría de Ares, very close to Pontedeume, makes access easy for both local visitors and those coming from other parts of Galicia or Spain. We always recommend the car as the most comfortable option for exploring this area, as it offers the necessary flexibility to also discover the charms of the surroundings.

By Car

If we are coming from A Coruña or Ferrol, the A-6 highway and the AP-9 are the main access routes. We must take the exit towards Pontedeume. Once in the municipality, Playa de Centroña is just a few kilometers away, following the local signs. The secondary roads that lead directly to the beach are usually well signposted, although they can be somewhat narrow in some sections, especially as you approach the coast. The advantage of going by car is that the beach has a Parking area (generally free and not very large, but functional) where we can leave our vehicle without major inconvenience, especially outside the peak hours of the high season. It is advisable to arrive early on days of high attendance to secure a good spot.

Public Transport

Access by public transport is more limited. There are bus lines connecting A Coruña and Ferrol with Pontedeume. However, from the center of Pontedeume to Playa de Centroña, the connection is more complicated. We could consider a taxi from the town, or, if we are keen walkers, a pleasant 30-40 minute walk could take us to the sand. However, for a comfortable and complete visit, the car remains our main recommendation.

From Nearby Airports

The nearest airports are A Coruña Airport (LCG) and Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ). From either, we can rent a car to get to Pontedeume and then to Playa de Centroña. The journey from A Coruña takes approximately 30-40 minutes, while from Santiago de Compostela it will take about an hour and a half.
